Look at his front office over the years. He's had high level analytical guys there since he took the job. Were they a front? We don't know how much influence and weight analytics played but you can't deny that he has embraced it with the front office teams he's built.
I don't think it's a "front" - I think Ainge probably treats analytics like Bill Simmons does. He reads the reports, considers them, and then goes with his gut anyway. That's just a guess of course. Either way, I don't see much reason to think Ainge gives the metrics much weight with respect to the draft. Or if he does, then the Celtics analytics team is generating very different reports than other teams, and public systems are.

Make sure to post who you want at 16, otherwise your opinion is not valid in the future for our resident basketball geniuses.

Ok next update from my friend: Offer was Butler for #3, Bradley, Crowder and Nets 2017. Celts tried to change out the Nets 2017 pick and was a deal breaker for Bulls. Ainge feels Brown is going to be similar or better than Butler long term but knows theres risk. Claims Ainge would of taken Brown over anyone but Ingram.

Fingers crossed that that Middleton trade rumor from earlier comes true

Honestly there's probably 12 guys I'd be happy with here. Basically anyone but Malachi Richardson.

in lighter news the financial markets are in bedlam as brexit vote moves to 50/50 in betting markets. Absolute mayhem
I saw one area was expected to be 63/37 to remain and it went 50/50. GJGE pollsters.

Still feel Danny was right to pass on that proposal, IF true.

I don't know what this is based on. Without getting into a stats vs. scouts thing, apart from Smart, Ainge has not really taken analytics darlings in the draft.

I agree Ainge isn't Vlade Divac, but he's also not Belichick. He hasn't really earned any benefit of the doubt with respect to his drafting. He's been fine.
I thought Hunter and Rozier were highly ranked from an analytics standpoint - at least some analytics.

I resemble this remark.

Pretty sure Brooks was for the Nets - JaJuan Johnson was for the Cs.

Here's Ainge's complete 1st rd record, with pick number.

15 - Al Jefferson
24 - Delonte West
25 - Tony Allen
18 - Gerald Green
21 - Rajon Rondo
30 - JR Giddens
28 - Wayne Ellington
19 - Avery Bradley
27 - JaJuan Johnson
21 - Jared Sullinger
22 - Fab Melo
13 - Kelly Olynyk
6 - Marcus Smart
17 - James Young
16 - Terry Rozier
28 - R.J. Hunter
Giddens and Olynyk were the ones that made me mad. I wanted Chalmers and Giannis. Add Brown to that list with Bender,

Was anyone calling from Crowder, Green or Middleton on draft night? I doubt it. From what I remember, everyone wanted Perry Jones III
I'll note, Crowder and Green were both analytics darlings in 2012 too, projecting as among the best prospects in the draft that year.

YABUSELE.
I'm fine with that, thought he'd be there later, but supposedly he was rising fast. Plus can stash him

Hunter graded out well on most systems I'm aware of. Rozier graded out very poorly on the other hand on every system I know except for Stephen Shea's system, which is based on looking at how players did in their best games, and throws out the rest of the sample. Generally however, analytics-types didn't like the Rozier pick.

It's tough to evaluate for sure, since "analytics", like anything else, has many voices, but that's my sense from the sources I read.
