Mod note: merged the PS notes & the roster watch threads, as we near the final cutdown day (today, Saturday by 4pm).
@AdamSchefter Giants released FB Henry Hynoski.
@art_stapleton
Nikita Whitlock $435K
Henry Hynoski $975K
McClain cut per Loyko.[/quote
I had been arguing that BB won't keep 4 CBs but starting before this cut I wasn't so sure. Now I'm really wondering. Basically, they Pats have quality depth at DL they risk losing if they cut them (Rufus Johnson, in particular, on top of all the draftees). The CBs on the other hand are a bunch of JAGs who might hang around if cut (McClain is the top of that list).
I guess we'll see soon.
Gray after week 1 wouldn't be a huge surprise. But today it would be. Wayne got a lot of money too. Guessing this is smoke.SeoulSoxFan said:@MarkDanielsPJ No sign of Reggie Wayne, Jonas Gray, Robert McClain or LaFell at practice
@DougKyedNESN A league source tells me the Patriots are calling teams, shopping around for a big-bodied receiver.
SeoulSoxFan said:
I guess this means LaFell starts on PUP. Can't imagine Wayne getting cut only after such a short time, but we've seen crazier things around Foxboro.
@MarkDanielsPJ Patriots have released Jonas Gray, per source.
Don't get it. I thought he was the best inside runner on the team, including Blount. They must really think he's a dipshit.SeoulSoxFan said:
This is an alarming development.
I would be shocked if he made it back to the Pats.Stitch01 said:They're probably going to throw the ball 50 times next week so maybe Gray is just gone for a week. Or maybe the quick benching last year was an illustration the staff didn't like his game that much
Cutting Wayne wouldn't shock me he might just be toast
@MarkDanielsPJ I talked to Travaris Cadet today and he seemed really confident. We now know why.
Maybe they are going to be using a lot of two-receiving back sets as they showed in the preseason. Rich Hill had a nice piece on this a few weeks back.SeoulSoxFan said:@MarkDanielsPJ I talked to Travaris Cadet today and he seemed really confident. We now know why.
Glad they're keeping Cadet. He looked like a playmaker earlier in camp.
You'd think they could get a 6th or a 7th for a guy who showed that kind of promise, that includes a dipshit discount.SeoulSoxFan said:
More Gray news:
@jeffphowe If the Patriots have cut Jonas Gray, they haven't told him about it yet, per source.
@FieldYates League source: the Patriots are planning to move on from RB Jonas Gray, but don't dismiss the idea that he could be traded still.
Hendu Candu said:Brandon Bolden can handle the job for a week.
Montee Ball available?
This preseason Gray carried 19 times for 107 yards, averaging 5.6 yards per carry (the highest average among Patriots running backs) and also had a 55-yard touchdown.
He was at 2.9 YPC excluding the long run FWIW. Though much of the struggles pre season were interior OL problems.SeoulSoxFan said:
Yeah I like that the YPC and the long run were presented as unrelated, though agreed Jim Brown would've had a tough time gaining much behind these guys so far.amarshal2 said:He was at 2.9 YPC excluding the long run FWIW. Though much of the struggles pre season were interior OL problems.

Still a better option than Trent RichardsonJohnnyTheBone said:
To be fair, Brown is 79 years old.
has to be... but you think we would have heard something about thatSeoulSoxFan said:

Regarding Gray, it has to be his attitude. The whispers out of Foxboro was that the missed practice last year was not his first incident. The staff must have felt it wasn't worth it.
@cpriceNFL Many Patriots who might be considered bubble candidates have not heard anything about their status at this point.
I don't think so. I'd rather have Branch who has been in our system.SeoulSoxFan said:DT Red Bryant released by the Bills. Does he have more left than Branch?
Agree. I thought Gray and Blount were going to be the two-headed monster light this year. I must've been ridiculously optimistic about Gray but at any rate, our running game suddenly looks pretty weakSeoulSoxFan said:This is an alarming development.
Agreed. Genuinely excited about him. Looked very "Kevin Faulk-y" all preseason.SeoulSoxFan said:This should come as no surprise, but Dion Lewis makes the team:

Best development besides DFG victory.

Not feeling great about WR depth with this news and LaFell not practicing. Hoping that Scott Chandler becomes a big piece to make up for it. Dobson safe?Gorton Fisherman said:Wayne cut, per Josina Anderson.

We are into the 16th year of the BB dynasty and every year people shit themselves after he cuts, trades or doesn't re-sign a player. His track record speaks for itself. I expect he cut Gray because he thought the other guys were better.RoDaddy said:Agree. I thought Gray and Blount were going to be the two-headed monster light this year. Found the locker room bugs and hightailed it outta Foxboro, collecting $450k in the process. That'd be my guess.amarshal2 said:Per Schefter he asked to be released. Wonder if he's retiring.
