D-III Update:
* All the top seeds have held serve so far. Top seed RIT destroyed #15 Ithaca 20-8. The Bombers scored twice early in the 2nd quarter to get within 6-4, but it was all downhill from there. The Tigers led 11-6 at the half and then poured it on after the break, out-shooting Ithaca 29-13. RIT was a perfect 28 of 28 on clears, won the ground ball battles 47-29, and forced 22 Bomber turnovers.
* #2 Salisbury broke open a tight game after leading #11 York by just a goal at the half, and the Seagulls advanced with a 12-6 win. It was 6-5 at the break, with the Spartans winning 4 of 5 face-offs and controlling possession while out-shooting the hosts 18-17. But Salisbury forced 8 2nd-half turnovers and found the net 6 times to just once for York. Donovan Lange notched a hat trick for Salisbury.
* #6 Tufts never had a lead of more than two goals, and held on for a narrow 10-9 win over #16 Endicott in Medford. The Gulls had the edge in most metrics, out-shooting Tufts 38-37, winning 12 of 22 face-offs, scooping 25 of 43 ground balls, and in turnovers forced 17-15. But Patton Watkins came up big in net for the Jumbos, stopping 16 of 25 shots on net, while Peter Bowers & Chris Schoenhut each notched hat tricks. Harrison Cotter had a three-goal day for Endicott in a losing cause.
* #10 Lynchburg had a chance for the upset and was playing #5 Washington (MD) tough, but an ill-timed penalty cost them in momentum and on the scoreboard. They led 4-3 at the half, but the host Shoremen opened the 3rd quarter with the extra man after Lynchburg's Tommy Kesterman was assessed a 2-minute non-releasable penalty (the equivalent of an ice hockey major) for a check to the head. The Hornets scored twice with the advantage to take a 5-4 lead, but the Hornets countered with two straight to go back in front. Washington took the lead for good on a pair of goals by Stephen Luck 37 seconds apart in the final minute of the 3rd quarter, then outscored the Hornets 3-1 in the final frame. Eight different Shoremen scored goals versus just three for Lynchburg, the latter getting hat tricks from David Alyanakian & Austin Stewart. Washington's Ted DiSalvo stopped 11 shots on net (61%) vs just 7 saves for the Hornets' Andrew Fawkes (41%).
* #9 Union, stacked with a baker's dozen seniors playing their final home game, held off #12 Amherst, 17-11. Rob Santangelo had a 4-goal day with 2 assists, while Charlie Ross added a hat trick for the Dutchmen who move on to face top seed RIT. Amherst's propensity for penalties (6 EMOs for Union leading to 2 scores) and ground ball futility (37-26) provided a big boost for Union's possession time. The Lord Jeffs won 19 of 32 face-offs, but the Dutchmen managed to get more shots on net (31-26). Stefan Basile made 15 saves for the victors, while Amherst sophomore Quinn Maroney notched 4 goals & 2 assists in a losing cause.
* #4 Denison (OH) got more than they bargained for from unranked Aurora (IL), but the Big Red remained unbeaten (18-0) and avoided the upset, 11-8, The visitors jumped to a 2-0 lead, and Denison didn't get their first lead until the 2nd quarter (4-3). They held a 6-5 lead at halftime, but the Spartans tied it up a few minutes into the 3rd quarter. The decisive goals came near the end of the 3rd, with Denison going up 8-6 on Max Obriecht's second score of the game and 60th of the season. Aurora got back to within 9-8 and had an EMO late in the 4th but couldn't convert. The Big Red tallied twice more for the final margin. Denison dominated on shots (44-20), won the ground ball battle (31-22) and forced more turnovers (19-13).
* #8 Cortland had to hold off #14 Springfield College in a frantic final quarter but held on to win. The Dragons led 8-3 at halftime and 12-3 after three quarters. The Pride got one back 3 minutes into the 4th before Cortland scored two more to make it 14-4. That's when Springfield went on a tear, scoring 6 unanswered before running out of both time and gas in a 14-10 loss.
* #3 Stevenson (MD) made the best of an unlucky draw against a strong #7-ranked Cabrini (PA) squad. The Mustangs started slowly, as the Cavaliers forged a 2-2 tie early on. But Cabrini would go 22 scoreless minutes while Stevenson racked 7 unanswered goals. The Cavs broke the string with a score midway through the 3rd, only to have Stevenson respond with 3 more to make it 12-3. Cabrini made a late charge in the 4th, but it wasn't enough. It's the end of the line for nine Cavalier seniors. Matt Biegel, JoJo Cooper, Corey Elmer, Mac Feiner, Bill McCabe, Kyle O'Connor, Joey Shallow, Charles Stephens and Matt Ward led Cabrini to 62 wins, including a perfect 25-0 mark in CSAC action, four conference championships and five NCAA Tournament victories, combining for 243 goals and 188 assists during their collective tenure.
