Albany wins it 20-11 to join Notre Dame & Loyola MD in the NCAA field. Seven more autobids to come, six of them today.

Just to give an overview of the field, six other slots are locks between the other 5 ACC teams (Maryland, Duke, UNC, Syracuse & UVA) and independent Johns Hopkins. That leaves two at-large bids. One will likely go to the loser of tomorrow's Harvard-Penn final in the Ivy. The other would likely come down to either a third Ivy team (Cornell) or a second CAA school (today's Drexel-Hofstra loser).

That's what makes the Big East final so huge. If Villanova pulls off the upset at home and knocks off Denver, that final at-large bid will go to the Pioneers.

Colin Clive scores twice and Barlow notches another to give Siena a 5-1 lead approaching halftime. The Saints held a similar lead over Marist earlier in the season, and had to hold on for a narrow 9-8 win.

Sure enough, Marist has come out on fire, outscoring Siena 4-2 in the 3rd quarter on goals by Joe Radin & Dillon Walker and a pair from Colin Joka. The Saints countered with a score by Barlow (giving him the hat trick) and another by Kyle Curry.

It's 8-5 Siena heading to the final frame.

Still an 8-6 lead for Loyola at halftime following scores by Nikko Pontrello, Pat Laconi, Jeff Chase (2), Brian Sherlock (2), Matt Sawyer and Graham Savio. The Blue Jays have a hat trick by Rob Guida, a pair from Brandon Benn, and a goal by Connor Reed.

Siena polishes off the MAAC title with an 11-7 win over Marist. The Red Foxes got goals from Joka and Gannon Osborne, but it wasn't enough to counter the Saints' 4th-quarter scores from Hurley (his 2nd of the game), Clive (for the hat trick) and Nate Barry.

Ward & Brian Schultz tally for Loyola to push their led to 10-6 with 10:37 left in the 3rd, the latter to finish off some sweet around-the-horn passing, but a holding penalty will leave the Greyhounds a man down here

EDIT - And Ryan Brown makes them pay immediately with 95-mph rifle shot from 25 feet in front.

EDIT - Make that two straight for Brown off a great feed from Stanwick. 10-8, Hounds.

It's still early, but 4-seed Richmond has the upper hand over 2-seed High Point in the A-Sun final down south of Atlanta. The Spiders are up 4-2 on goals by Alex Hatem, Dan Ginestro, Mitch Goldberg & Jean-Luc Chetner. They've outshot the Panthers 18-8 so far, after out-shooting top seed Mercer by 20 in the semis.

Army trailed the Irish 4-1 but have battled back to lead 14-12 heading to the 4th quarter. The Black Knights don't have much of a chance at the NCAAs even with a win today (30th in RPI and 20th in the LAX Power computer rankings), but a Notre Dame loss could cost the Irish a home field game despite their ACC title.

Wow, a horrible turnover by Army as they can't clear the zone and Glessner falls down and loses it on a double team. The Irish get it to Doyle who caps a 2-on-none breakaway with his 4th of the day for the lead with 20 seconds left. Brutal way for Army to lose if this is how it ends. Notre Dame has scored on its last 3 shots.

Maryland is taking care of business vs Navy, leading 9-5 after three quarters. A win should get them a top-8 seed, but it'll be close. Others in line to host: Duke, Cuse, Loyola, Notre Dame, Denver, UNC and Virginia.

Penn has an outside shot if they put the hammer down on Harvard. Cornell would have probably nosed out the Terps or UVA had they won the Ivy. And if Denver loses to Villanova, that would open up a slot for the Ivy winner.

So uhhhh... yeah. About that.

Nova & Denver enter the halftime break tied 6-6. The Wildcats bolted to leads of 2-0 and 4-2 before DU battled back late in the half. Both teams have shown great scoring balance and ball movement. Villanova gets scores from Eric Gartner, Johnny Gallaway, Devin McNamara (2), Matt McIver (of Andover MA) and Thomas Croonquist. The Pioneers' goals come from Zach Miller, Mike Riis, Wesley Berg (2), Harrison Archer and Jack Bobzien. Goalies Dan Willis for Nova (a freshman) and junior Ryan Laplante for DU have been stellar with some highlight reel saves.

Denver has the halftime edge in shots (18-14), ground balls (20-11), and face-offs (10-of-15).

EDIT - And there's #4 for Miller, making it 9-6 with his 33rd goal of the season. Like the Thompson Trio, he's a native American from upstate New York (Seneca Nation). Immensely talented and fun to watch, with incredibly quick feet.

We're in the final minute, and Air Force is on the verge of pulling the upset with the 9-8 lead. The Falcons will have possession coming out of the timeout.

EDIT - Fairfield forces a turnover and sprints the length of the field. They get off a shot with less than 10 secs left, but goalie Doug Gouchoe (from Concord MA) makes a spectacular wicket save in front of his left foot with his leg splayed out wide. Time expires, and Air Force wins the ECAC Championship and flies off into the wild blue yonder of the NCAA Tournament.

The CAA Final has been a defensive battle so far, with top seed Drexel holding a slim 4-3 lead over #2 Hofstra at halftime. The Dragons have goals from Cole Shafer and Nick Trizano with two apiece, while Ben McIntosh has assisted on three of the scores. For the Dutchmen, the goals have come from Torin Varn, Lance Yapor & Drew Coholan.

Drexel leads in shots 17-16, while Hofstra has the faceoffs edge 5-3. Will Gabrielson has 9 saves for the Dragons, and Hofstra's Chris Selva has 5 stops. Eddie Collins, who briefly replaced Selva during an injury, also made a save for the Dutchmen.

Hofstra is 9-1 on their home field this season (the lone loss was 11-9 to Marquette), so we'll see what the 2nd half brings.
