It's nice of Terry to give Reed a chance to blow a game as well as Clippard did, to complete the full picture of their shitty bullpen

What a total meltdown. Mets are not exactly a mentally tough team. Yes, give KC credit, they are a relentless and deep team. But the Mets could have won this series if they weren't such a bunch of boneheads.

heh, thanks... I'm not actually leaving until then end, but my hope is gone
Either way it was a hell of a season for your boys. Just getting to this point is a big deal. Mets still have a bright future with all of that pitching.

All the people shitting on the Mets are overlooking one thing.  This Royals team is excellent.  Their line-up is sick (in a 2015, grind-out ABs type of way), their starters are just good enough, their defense is damn good and their bullpen is filthy.  If this score holds up, the Mets didn't lose this series.  The Royals flat out won it.
It's no disrespect to the Royals to point out that the Mets made epic blunders.

Yes, the Royals had to take advantage, but let's not pretend that the Meta didn't blow three games.

Sure KC is good but how many errors have the Mets made?  And some bad plays not credited with errors.

For anyone new to the Mets - this is actually their IMPROVED defense from earlier in the year, when they were running Murphy at 3b and Flores at 2b

This is true but people keep saying this and taking credit from the Royals. They have capitalized in every situation they can.

Also the Royals' style of play is precisely the kind that created these situations in the first place.

It's so awkward losing at home.

At least if this was KC, The Mets could walk off the field and got home

No. It will be at least 20 years before they get there again. They are doomed and cursed. They sold their soul in 86.

Yup. It's a thing. My corporate office is located there, and I've spent a good deal of time there. Lots of chains (Gordon Biersch, etc.,) and a ridiculously high sales/meal tax rate, like 12%.

I guess no more baseball, so that's too bad. I never had a horse in this race, but holy christ have the Mets looked miserable when it counted.

Anyone here who was rooting for the Mets to win has a really really really bright side.

What a team. When the pressure was on, the Royals stayed calm and did everything right. A pleasure to watch.

Yeah... it would be a little less infuriating if they were just getting beaten, as opposed to blowing the games themselves, but I have to say I'm kind of used to that by now :)

The Cubs series was quite a bit of good luck, but this series has definitely exposed every Mets weakness that's been obvious from the beginning of the season - bad defense, bad bullpen. At least those are somewhat easier to fix for next year than other things, and the rotation is going to be great... but they absolutely need another 2 relievers, and as much as I like Murphy's approach at the plate, they cannot run an infield of Wright/Flores/Murphy - the defense is just too bad.

The Giants handled them just fine last year. I don't see too much of a difference between the 14' and 15 Royals to be completely honest.
