Still, going to be awfully hard for nd to get in the tourney.

That's a pretty good and interesting comp. I do think jameis gets a bigger shot bc qb skills are so hard to come by. Rbs, even good ones, are so replaceable.canderson said:He's Maurice Clarett. I expect his career to turn out the same way.
Will probably need a few teams to lose but @Arizona st , vs. Louisville , @usc gives them a chance to pick up wins over 3 top 25 teams . Certainly much better than what Mich. st or even OSU can do the rest of the way out.twibnotes said:You guys played great...was pulling for you.

I expect ND to be considered 6th behind 4 SEC West schools who still have two games against each other.twibnotes said:You guys played great...was pulling for you.

Vinho Tinto said:Can anyone explain why Fisher coached the FSU final drive like it was leather helmet football? Winston was on fire in the 2nd half, but 3 runs vs the ND defense that contained the run the entire game.
It's the middle of October. Playoff speculation is still too premature.
Deathofthebambino said:I think you guys are really not giving FSU credit for this win. They were a 9 point favorite, but let's not forget that ND is the #5 team in the country, and based on what I saw tonight, I believe that ranking. Notre Dame played one of their best games in recent memory, and FSU took every punch and countered. That second half offensively was a master piece by the Noles. Could Miss. State or Ole Miss beat them? Maybe. But other than maybe Alabama, I wouldn't have an issue betting on FSU straight up against any team in the country. They are really, really good. If this season proves anything, it is not easy to win week in and week out. Yet, FSU does it. Shit, the Pats just beat the shitty ass Jets by the skin of their teeth and most folks, myself included, were saying "hey, a win is a win." Not sure why that doesn't apply here. Until someone beats them, I think they are #1 now (and I was the one who called Miss. State leap frogging them last week) after this win.
Just to be clear. I hate FSU. I just hate ND more than I do any other college team, by a wide, wide margin.

There was a less blatant illegal contact on the first TD.
Stanford loss doesn't help though. ND now has exactly zero wins against ranked opponents.dcmissle said:ND did itself a world of good. The line was justified by recent outings and recent history in not posting in games of this magnitude. They gave the country a heck of a game on a giant stage and no doubt reduced fears of a ND embarrassment in a playoff. But they need to take care of business the rest of the way, play impressively and not just win.
The Stanford loss doesn't matter, because Arizona State is also on the schedule.twibnotes said:Stanford loss doesn't help though. ND now has exactly zero wins against ranked opponents.
Regardless, the selection committee is going to want to see good wins, as many as possible. Think it's a legit question as to whether ND will have enough.Domer said:The Stanford loss doesn't matter, because Arizona State is also on the schedule.
They probably need some help by having things fall right. Nonetheless, last night was the only kind of loss that would have left ND with ANY chance.twibnotes said:Regardless, the selection committee is going to want to see good wins, as many as possible. Should have joined a conference! At least you'd get an extra chance at a big win.
Yes, they should join the ACC. Then they will have a schedule full of cupcake opponents, with maybe two hard games. And they can play those at home. And get a high ranking handed to them on that basis.twibnotes said:Regardless, the selection committee is going to want to see good wins, as many as possible.
