I think Baylor is out. This is a bad loss relative to the losses suffered by some of the other contenders. if there are 7 one loss teams playing for three spots, I wonder how they will rate these teams. conference champs? best wins? worst loss? best loss?

oh boy this is gonna be funny

Yeah, I think Baylor is out too. Bad non-conf. WVU is kinda underrated though. Their only losses are to Oklahoma and Alabama

a few committee members (Luck, Alvarez, Manning) have said that conference titles will be an element that they will consider when talking about teams that are closely rated. But it's not an automatic tie-breaker, they'll look at the whole resume, margin of victory, SoS, other metrics.

Honestly though, I'm not even thinking about the playoff until November. There's way too much that can change to get hung up on it now. The season is barely half over.

I knew it'd been a while, but a letdown after it will never shock me especially against decent-to-good teams.

Plus OU isn't very good. :)

Either is Texas.
Like last year, there doesn't seem to be much quality in CFB

Alabama is just stomping on A&M.  31-0 in the 2nd quarter.  Embarrassing showing by the Aggies so far.

And you can lock Bama into the playoff if they finish with one loss.  No doubt there, IMO, especially given who they'll have to beat to run the table.

Like someone else said, there is a long, long way to go and a ton of shit is going to change between now and the playoff.  I think the top 4-5 teams will show themselves when all is said and done.  Might have some controversy for that last spot, but I don't think it'll be as hard as it looks right now, especially if a couple of teams (Ole Miss, FSU?) stay unbeaten. That said, whatever gets us to 8 teams faster is good by me.

Baylor is done, and any team that gives up 50+ then 45 in consecutive weeks should be done.

This Alabama beating is incredible, 45-0 at halftime now. It looks like 4 of next week's top 5 will be from the SEC West, along with the winner of Florida St/Notre Dame.

Georgia stomping the guts out of Arkansas on the road, 38-6 at half.  They are clearly the team to beat in the East.

Love how the mother of Indiana starting QB Zander Diamont was the actress who played Sophie, who got gonorrhea from a tractor in Seinfeld.

I believe this is the only competitive major conference game on my television right now.

Edit: NC State at Louisville on NESN Plus is kind of close

You can't get gonorrhea just from riding a tractor. You have to be wearing a bikini. I've had a few close calls.

Great useless fact!

So:

- gooners lose to K State 31-30 on a shanked 19-yard FG
- aggy gets taken to the woodshed by Bammer 59-0 (outgained in total yards 602-172 lol)
- Baylor loses to a seemingly inferior WVU by two touchdowns

If Texas can beat Iowa State tonight, it will be an almost perfect day in CFB.

The cherry on top would be if Free Shoes and the Domers play to a 2-2 tie.

Can we talk about Indiana RB, Tevin Coleman for a second.  Today, they got spanked by Michigan State, 56-14, but somehow, he managed to get 132 yards on the ground on 15 carries.  He averaged 8.8 yards per carry.  Which even more amazingly, is his season average.  He now has 1,192 yards rushing on only 138 carries.  It doesn't matter if Indiana is getting blown out, is in a shoot out, or if they are winning, he breaks off a long run every week.  He has not had a single game in which he didn't have at least one carry that went for 43+ yards, and in a number of games, he's had 2 or 3 of them.  Today, he went for 65 on his longest rush of the day. He now has 11 td's on the ground (today was the first game he didn't have one), and he's had at least 122 yards in every game this year.  Today was his second lowest output in a tie at 132.  His yardage by game on the ground, 247, 190, 132, 122, 150, 219, and 132, and he's played some decent defenses, like the Spartans today, @Missouri, Maryland and @ Iowa.  He's pretty amazing to watch, so if you get a chance to see Indiana play, tune in and there is a pretty good shot you'll see him break a long one.

Did I mention that he's a junior, and he averaged 7.3 yards per carry last year on 131 carries?  He missed the last 3 games due to injury last year.  He now has 9 consecutive games with over 108 yards dating back to last year, and today broke his 16 consecutive game with a rushing td streak.

This is pretty cool. I hate to be that guy, but I wonder if he'll go pro. He'll probably push 200 carries this season, and he was hurt last year. He's got good size, 6'1" 210, and he ran track so he's probably got good speed

It's rare that I pull for nd but wouldn't mind seeing them beat jameis and fsu - what a joke that program is.

Certainly looks like the Irish can play with them.

Only a force of pure evil can cause UM fans to cheer* for the Irish.

* Perhaps a strong word

Chris Fowler is so good at calling games. Way better than Musburger.

He also has my dream life. Travel around the world calling tennis 8 months a year, travel around the US calling college football four months a year.

Ha. I'm pretty disgusted by what's going on at fsu. I know it's a dirty bidness but cmon. Don't like nd but respect the way they run the program. Besides, I want some reassurance that a Midwest team can in fact compete with the big dogs.

Missouri has 94 total yards of offense, and they lead Florida 34-0.  Punt return td, kick return td, fumble return td and their other touchdown was after one of Florida's 4 turnovers.

FSU's offensive line is just abysmal this year.   It was abused in the OK St game,  destroyed in the Clemson game, and looks like another game where the OL is going to kill them,

It may or may not lead to a loss tonight   It will be the reason they don't win the championship this year

Respect the way Brian Kelly runs his program.  hmm, I think not

Oh yeah, Marcus Murphy has both of the kick return touchdowns.  He now has 7 total kick return touchdowns in his career (4 punt, 3 kickoff).
