They still celebrating?Detroit celebrating like they won the NFC Championship. Awesome

It still doesn’t explain the decision. Tucker is such a weapon and Pittsburgh is not that good. Odds favored kicking the PAT and going to OT.They had the play. The Steelers were on their heels.
Lamar missed the pass.
It was a Harbaughsian decision.. and it's beautiful that it didn't work. Was just gonna say this. Ravens made the wrong call. They were the better team. Should have played a longer game.
"Fuck you Ravens!" is much more satisfying all around.FUCK YEAH STEELERS.
Now I'm going to take a shower for writing those words.
Fair enough but I’ve always thought if you can win a game with a “makeble” play and take the luck/variance out of a series of plays, you go for it.I think a good team should expect to execute better over a series of plays versus a single play, considering how much variance there is in a single play. I think it makes a lot more sense for bad teams to go for 2 in that situation.
Their D gave up 200 yards and 17 points on 3 drives in the 4th, there is no way you can trust them, they were shot.Especially since his team had just gone down he field with ease right before the play. If you're the better team you kick and go to overtime and if you don't with the coin flip you kick the ball deep and expect your D to hold.
They could have been if they had more room on the graphic, since they are now tied with the Giants and Bears.Calm down, Seattle. You ain’t even in the ‘in the hunt’ graphic.
Is this true? What if KC wins tonight? For at least 27 hours, the Patriots are the #1 seed
If he recovered that himself, you just know he's hitting the FG to win it on the next play regardless that it's like 80 yards.Really loved that on side technique. It would be a lot of fun to watch him practice.
Yeah.. the idea that it's better to go for one play rather than start over with a whole series of downs in OT? Why accept that much variance as an acceptable decision? Massive underdogs are the teams that should go for it there...and that's basically it.It still doesn’t explain the decision. Tucker is such a weapon and Pittsburgh is not that good. Odds favored kicking the PAT and going to OT.
Pats have better conference record. Is this true? What if KC wins tonight?
If KC wins they'll be 8-4 (same as the Pats, Titans and Ravens). The Pats have the best conference record in the group, so they get it.Is this true? What if KC wins tonight?
Yeah. Pats have a 6-1 AFC record. If the Chiefs win tonight they’ll be at 3-4. The Pats will be a top the 8-4 pileup. Is this true? What if KC wins tonight?
He's a huge advantage but the Steelers had driven up and the down the field the entire 4th quarter against his defense. OT always feels like a coin flip when both offenses are clicking, and the 2 point conversion is what, a 55-75% chance of working? I'd take that if I'm Harbaugh, no guarantee Tucker ever gets a chance to end it if you lose the toss.Tucker is a huge edge in OT. Why Harbaugh chose to ice his kicker and advantage is an interesting decision
Going through this one year rebuild has been rough on the fans, glad it's over.Pats have better conference record.
I think you’re projecting, even though it’s true that I hated Mike Brady. He was so damn smug. You must hate Brady, then, right?
There are toddlers weeks out of diapers who haven't seen the Pats win a SB.Going through this one year rebuild has been rough on the fans, glad it's over.
The technique is called a Rabona.. used every once in a while in soccer.. I'm always amazed how much power players can get with their back leg.Tucker is such a slick kicker.
Yep.Sidney Jones mugged that guy in the end zone on 3rd and goal
The refs seemed especially one-sided in this one. But tip of the cap to Seattle for taking advantage, and that fake punt was a great play. I still can't believe the 49ers loss. It should have been first and goal from the one with one timeout left.Yep.
Referees didn’t do crap, and the announcers were gushing at the brilliant defense.
It's closer to 40-55% apparently. 2018-2019 apparently it was 49.4% of the time. He's a huge advantage but the Steelers had driven up and the down the field the entire 4th quarter against his defense. OT always feels like a coin flip when both offenses are clicking, and the 2 point conversion is what, a 55-75% chance of working? Feel like Seattle D has been taught to hold the crap out of receivers under Pete.. The idea that they can only call so many penaltiesYep.
Referees didn’t do crap, and the announcers were gushing at the brilliant defense.
Being a follower of the club, I can state that’s the first time someone used the terms “offense” and “clicking” in the same sentence this season. He's a huge advantage but the Steelers had driven up and the down the field the entire 4th quarter against his defense. OT always feels like a coin flip when both offenses are clicking, and the 2 point conversion is what, a 55-75% chance of working? "Win it for the toddlers!!"There are toddlers weeks out of diapers who haven't seen the Pats win a SB.
If the penalty for kicking OOB isn’t severe then may as well eliminate the kickoff because most kicks result in touchbacks and teams just won’t kick it in bounds if they are playing in the elements.Going back to the Steelers game and the kick-off that went out of bounds at the two-yard line.
I hate this penalty so much!
Punts can go out of bounds with zero penalties at all, but a kick-off goes out of bounds at the two-yard line and that is now a 38-yard penalty?!? I am not saying there shouldn't be a penalty at all, but I could hit a guy helmet-to-helmet, knock him out, and it would only be a 15-yard penalty. It just feels unfair that the penalty is so big.
That Humphrey news is big, and helps explain that decision better for sure.Apparently Harbaugh mentioned that a factor in his decision to go for 2 is they had lost so many CBs, and that Humphrey was unavailable and needs an MRI but is expected out "a while".
So about what you'd expect, he had more faith in the offense scoring than in putting his broken D back out there.
Maybe everGreat game. Might be the first time I've rooted for Pitt in 15 years.
I agree on the bolded point completely. If the penalty for kicking OOB isn’t severe then may as well eliminate the kickoff because most kicks result in touchbacks and teams just won’t kick it in bounds if they are playing in the elements.
It’s also orders of magnitude easier to avoid kicking a kickoff OOB than a punt.
He thought for sure he was going to.Maybe I'm being too hard on one player and too easy on the other, but Andrews still could've caught that ball. He kind of has to.
I’m sure there has been other instances over the past 20 years where Pats fans have had to root for Pittsburgh or Baltimore for seeding purposes.
I think you should think of it as a 15 yard penalty, because the only way to not allow a return is a touchback, so you're being penalized an additional 15 yards really since you couldn't have LEGALLY had the ball unreturned at the 2. Punts are live plays, you have a number of ways to effect the punt, therefore it makes sense to allow an OOB strategy, while a kickoff is a dead ball play, so it makes sense to not allow an OOB kick.I agree on the bolded point completely.
I guess I just get caught up on a kickoff going out of bounds at the two-yard line resulting in the biggest penalty (in terms of yards) of the game, aside from a possible deep pass interference penalty. The punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime, IMHO...especially when I punt going out of bounds receives absolutely no penalty whatsoever.
Ok, thanks...this makes more sense.I think you should think of it as a 15 yard penalty, because the only way to not allow a return is a touchback, so you're being penalized an additional 15 yards really since you couldn't have LEGALLY had the ball unreturned at the 2. Was he the Bronco that let Mahomes walk in untouched rather than at least trying to blast him at the goal line?Does Surtain know he’s playing in a live game with tackling?
That was gross.
