Well, so much for Phillips.

This looks to me like they set the price sky-high, waited a bit for any takers then said forget it when Robidas was moved for a 4th.

The pick is going to TBL not from TBL.  Not only that but it is a 2015 first which is a draft that has been hyped for the last 3 years.  NYR are a King Henry injury from making the lottery next year.  This was a no-brainer trade for TBL.  You have to assume there is zero chance TB signs Callahan if it means they don't get to keep the NYR 1st.  Would make sense to flip him for more picks/ young players at this point.
Even if Lundqvist stays healthy it's not too far fetched the pick with be in the teens, which is what their 2014 one would be right now.  I don't see anything to suggest they would be picking in the late stages of the first round next year though.

I wonder what Edmonton could have gotten for Hemsky had they traded him any of the dozens of previous times he was rumored to be on the move.

And the picks are meh. A 5th this year, a 3rd the next. Buyers' market so far.

I would have loved Hemsky at that price.  That's a steal, he's a good player on a terrible team

At this point, I'd go to Garth Snow and dangle a conditional 2014 2nd and Camara for Vanek. Just to see if he'll dive like the rest of the scoring forwards GMs have.

no it's for AHL defenseman Brayden McNabb

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 16s

Pending trade call, sounds like BUF sends Brayden McNabb and two 2nd round picks to LA for two prospects - one of them Hudson Fasching.

seeing lots of places that Kesler is off the block til the draft - Canucks ownership wants/thinks they can make the playoffs and need/want the revenue.  Now, how they are going to make the playoffs w/Eddie Lack as their full-time goalie and no D. Sedin, I'm not sure.

The punchline to just about any insane NHL decision is one of Mike Gillis, Garth Snow, or Paul Holmgren.

TSN just read a few tweets from @boringmonahan, the purported account of Boring Sean Monahan run by an unknown member of the Flames. It's pretty good:

Boring Sean Monahan ‏@boringmonahan Mar 2
I asked Chris Butler if he was watching the Oscars and he said he was.

I scored 2 goals tonight and everyone was very happy. Joe Colborne said I'm glad you have 17 goals and I said actually Joe it's now 18.

The NHL trade deadline is next Wednesday. If a team wants to make a trade on Thursday they won't be able to because it's past the deadline.

Only justification I can see from not making a move this year, in this obvious buyer's market, in a spring where you raise ticket prices for next year, is some kind of worry over team chemistry. With Chara and Bergy, I don't buy it. I'm expecting a move for a (legit, non-Corey edition) D-man at 2:45

Corey Potter is sad at this post.

That's assuming that Corey Potter knows who Corey Potter is.

As for making a real move, I trust this regime implicitly given its track record. If there's a deal out there that makes the team better now, without sacrificing too much in the future, they will make it. Regarding ticket price hikes, I will again cite their record.

right here
I was actually idly pondering Goc to the Bs while watching the game last night but didn't care enough to look up his stats for the year or contract or anything like that.

Cool story, bro.
