@dominictiano: Nothing to base this on, but I think #Bruins pull the trigger on their deal today rather then wait until tomorrow. After the way Iginla ...
For what's it worth Dom Tiano thinks any trade the Bruins make will go down today and Haggs replied to that and said he's hearing the same thing.

Johnson would be a pretty good fit IMO as well.

He's learned to reign himself in and isn't always going for the big hit anymore à la Phaneuf. If they limit his role this year to Bartkowski's minutes, they can't really go wrong - 4 years at $4.4m left after this season is pretty good to have him in his prime years as well.

When Seidenberg gets back they'd be looking at a Chara/Seidenberg/Johnson/Hamilton top-4 (assuming Boychuk would have to go for cap purposes).

Question is the cost, as always. If there'd be a deal to cash Khokhlachev in on, alongside someone like Morrow, JJ may be it. Would be nice to get out of it without much more than that but picks aplenty would likely have to go to save Subban/Spooner.

The problem with Robidas is handedness. I'm not sure the Bruins have much interest in another righty, unless they're shutting McQuaid down for good. He seems like an awkward fit coming off injury and playing the right side. Trevor Daley would be a better fit, but I'd imagine Dallas plans to hang on to him.

JJ is intriguing. I haven't watched too much of him this year, but he would make some sense on the 2nd pair. Similar to Ehrhoff without the 7-year contract obligation left.

I completely missed that Robidas was RH. I know the Bruins care about that more than a lot of other teams, so that may effect it unless they are confident he can play the left side.

As for JJ, that seems kind of the like Gaborik thing as interesting but really unlikely. I still think they play it conservatively and add a lesser guy like Robidas rather than go big with guys like Gaborik, JJ, et al.

normally I would agree with you as it has been Chia's track record, but there seems to be some smoke with the Bruins and Columbus talks.

Columbus has no incentive to trade Jack Johnson. They're in the playoff hunt and he's one of their core defenseman and someone they should keep around while they are slowly building their team. If anything, Columbus will be buyers this deadline.

This is where I'm at on Johnson. Why trade the guy when he's locked up at a reasonable price for the next 4 years?

Gaborik makes more sense for them to shop. He doesn't fit their system, and is a FA after the season. I just don't see the Bruins offering enough to get him.

See, I think Gaborik could be had pretty cheaply. Problem is fitting his salary in.
aren't teams able to eat some of that cap space now too or did I misunderstand that? Meaning, Columbus could eat some of the remaining contract on Gaborik

Yeah, but they'd need to retain $3 million or so. It's possible, but I'm sure CBJ could find a team that'll take the whole salary. The Bruins would have to sweeten the return to get CBJ to eat the salary. That may become too pricey.

Meanwhile, Dreger says the asking price for Phillips is a 1 and Meszaros is a 2.

No thanks.

I would bet good money that if Phillips gets dealt, he ends up signing that two year extension in Ottawa after the season. Why would anyone pay a 1st for a guy they'll only have for a few months? No thanks.

Still, out of all the available guys, I think he fits what the Bruins need the best.

Brodeur has to approve the deal and reportedly wants to play one last game for the Devils.  Pretty classy move.

I can't imagine NJ goes for this. What if he gets hurt? The Devils have a home game tonight - but still...super risky.

Hypothetically what else do you guys think we would need to add to Loui to net Gaborik & Johnson? Probably too much for the Bruins to want to part with.

Watch him get traded to Columbus as part of a blockbuster Gaborik/JJ package.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE

I'm going to tweet "sources say Bruins looking to move Eriksson, possibly to CBJ"

Loui for 20 games of Gaborik and JJ would be horrifying.

Hypothetically, the only player on the market I'd consider moving Loui for is Ryan Kesler.

Cory Conacher's currently on waivers. I'd love to grab him as this year's Daugavins - not a huge chance he makes it past Buffalo though.

Ouch, that trade looks pretty horrible for Ottawa in hindsight.

I don't get Brodeur to Minnesota at all. Is he better than Kuemper? The Wild would be dumb to start Marty. Is it worth it for Brodeur to move organizations after 20+ seasons to be a back up?

Well, he's going from a team that is sixth in the WC standings to a team that is almost guaranteed to make the playoffs and is 1st in the WC.

If Minnesota was the only team that showed interest and he's looking for one last run in the playoffs, then why not? It's, what, 4 months of playing in Minnesota at maximum.

I believe both his sons play at Shattucks in MN as well, so he would be close to them,.

FWIW, Lamoriello has vehemently denied that a deal's in place, rumors around Halak to Minnesota are picking up.

Also hearing @Dustinpenner25 to Washington is real in addition to Viktor Fasth heading to Edmonton.

Wow, Ducks could already have 3 deals - wondering if Fasth is part of Schultz to Anaheim?
