Must be some serious character concerns for him to have slid so far, but seriously, he has more upside than anyone at this stage as a rim runner/interior defender.

And that's why you stand pat sometimes, and see what happens. I think Danny is probably getting the guy he would have taken if he had the 15th pick in this draft.

This team continues to come together, Danny still has a ton of future chips to use...This team is poised for a long, long run of championship contending.

"He's not a good offensive player."

Good thing we don't need offensive players. We've got a top 10 and a top 25 offensive player coming back to a team that was one game from the NBA finals already.

Milford, Ma
They have a strong enough locker room and organization to hopefully overcome any off court issues, and hopefully he comes in with a chip on his shoulder. Surprised they went for the homerun vs the certainty of a cost controlled rotation player but I trust the talent evaluation and he has a ton of upside. If he hits he’s a perfect fit long term as a defensive anchor.

Plug him right into the Greg Monroe role. Not as good a scorer or passer inside but has the tools to be better at everything else.

at 27, that's actually pretty good.
The value was definitely there and he fills a need for us which is what Ainge was looking to do on a nice cheap rookie deal. I disagree with all the talk about Williams having all this lottery talent, being a home run, etc etc. simply because he's an awful offensive player and an even worse passer. I think I had him 21 or 22 and an overhyped type but this is a great fit here for both the player and the Celtics in the role he'll play.
