The minimal ad breaks, complaining to the refs and the lack of the usual parade of promos is to refreshing.

Tatum finishing strong.

Now, Adebayo at the 5 for a switch everything defense is why he is on the roster.

I don't really have a problem with jaylen having a massive chip on his shoulder next year; the second championship can be fueled by the fire of his rage.

I'd also LOVE to be in the room when whoever is making the call is making the call to know how that discussion really goes down.
You can get a lot from what Grant Hill said, since he's probably the final decision-maker as the GM of the team.

I thought Tatum looked winded. Someone has had a very fun 3 weeks. That said, no one on Canada seems to be able to keep him from getting to the rim. My great hope for him is that he realizes he should be modeling his game after Lebron (not Kobe) and uses his drive game to set up his jumper, and not the other way around.

Like I said above, I don’t think Jaylen’s assumptions are unfounded lol.

Maybe it wasn’t the deciding factor, but it was a factor.
This is the exact impression I got. My guess would be that there was a slight preference towards Jaylen but not enough of one to rile up Nike.

Regardless, Hill definitely didn’t throw himself on the sword for Nike there

I was confused by tonight’s stating lineup, then I realized that it may be that Booker is the Durant stand-in, and Kerr is giving him a start tonight because he’s trending toward being the 11th and not playing much.

Steph/Jrue/Durant/LeBron/Embiid actually makes sense as the starters.

Steph/LeBron/Durant is the core people want to see, I’m sure they had to promise Embiid the starting spot to get him to commit to play for the US, and a more natural “role player” in the 5th-starter/guard defender spot in Jrue.

That also lets Tatum/Ant cook in offense in the second unit, and they’re huge and switchable as the wings with AD/Bam up front. I might rather see White as the PG in that group, and not just because of C’s bias. But they can hide Hali on D with those 4 teammates, and his shooting and playmaking could help get a little more out of the bigs offensively.

Watching him tonight, Haliburton is another guy you can add to the "miraculously healed once his series with the Celtics was over" list, along with Luka.

Haliburton had a legit injury. Wasn’t bad, but definitely enough to knock him out for a couple weeks.

Luka just wanted an excuse and some attention. He was never hurt… sore, tired, and out of shape.

It was a hamstring that was nearly two months ago. It really isn’t that miraculous that he’s 100%.

Haliburton also went 47 days between games, Luka had just 14 days off between game 5 and his qualifier game vs Croatia. Not in the same ballpark.

Stephen A doubling down on his JB stuff from earlier in the season. This guy sucks

Do y’all believe me now? Yo @FCHWPO, do I need to reveal my sources now? Is it not obvious now? How in the hell is a $300M man — now a champion and an NBA Finals MVP— who’s clearly a top-two player on the @celtics and a Top-15 player in the world, NOT chosen for Team-USA? B/c his teammate NOT named Tatum is selected before him? Come on y’all!!!
If you remember, back in May, SAS said he had sources telling him that JB’s “I’m better than you” attitude made people not like him and hurt his marketability

I love Jaylen but I don’t think any team is making that deal
On the basis of upside and team control/cost, you’re almost certainly right. But… Jaylen is all NBA, an all star, and finals MVP, and is just 27, hitting his prime, and is locked in long term to a deal. What are the odds that Cooper Flagg becomes as good as Jaylen?

Maybe reasonably high, but only about a million things could go wrong between now and that happening and Jaylen is already there. Add Jaylen to the Spurs and they’re probably (?) a high level playoff team in the west right now. Then in two years with Jaylen at his peak and Wemby with more maturity… holy smokes.

Even still…. Yeah not happening.

Hey SAS - JB had two teammates picked before him.

BTW, here's JB's USA BBall resume: https://www.usab.com/players/jaylen-brown. Seems to me that USMNT could use someone like JB to play the aggressive on ball defense that he showed in the playoffs just as much as a guy like DW.

Happy for DW but I definitely would have put JB on the team first. But as everyone said above, hopefully this fuels his fire for next season.

It’s crazy to me that Jaylen will be 28 when the season starts.

Makes me feel quite old lol.

So, Stephen A is saying his sources are Nike and Grant Hill? The situations really have nothing to do with one another. Seems like Stephen A got butthurt that Jaylen kept calling him out then tried to dunk on JB when something went wrong to justify/verify his original statement and make it look better.
