More like calling the pass play call stupid than whining is what I get every time I hear it."BEAST MODE, BEAST MODE, BEA.....ah crap"
Listening to Collinsworth whining for ten minutes afterward about their decision to pass there vs run during the broadcast made it all the more sweeter.
Except Sherman. Biiiiggg mouth but can admit when he’s beaten and gives credit where it’s due.The Seahawks were so classless at the end. It’s not a shock they fell apart after the lost.
AgreedExcept Sherman. Biiiiggg mouth but can admit when he’s beaten and gives credit where it’s due.
I disagree. You don't see very often players blindly turn back into the teeth of the defense. Cooks learned why there.Agreed; can't really fault him for almost dying on the other play.
Agreed that the XLIX vs. Seattle was the watershed moment, probably my most emotional moment as a fan other than the '01 Super Bowl.As good as the Falcons win was, the Seahawks victory was more meaningful. Had that been it, I would have been happy. Now we're in "Fuck you, get mine" mode.
Perhaps my favorite Belichick moment and description ever. The Pats defensive coaches are screaming in his ear "Bill, they're asking if you want the time out?" and cool as a cucumber like they're in a preseason game and not under a minute to go in the Super Bowl, he just says into his mic: "Yeah, I got it.""You know, I looked over at their sideline and they appeared to be confused, so I though, if they want to call a time out, let them, otherwise, I'm going to let the clock run there and take my chances" or words to that effect.

In the first Do Your Job, Bill says: "I thought about the timeout, and when I looked over there, I dunno, something just didn't look right. They started on, then they started off, and now however many seconds had gone by, and I'm thinking I'm not going to take them off the hook by taking the timeout. If they want to take it, let 'em take it. Matt asked me if I wanted the timeout and I said no, just play goal line."
And the next game the Seahawks played, they had a chance to test the “Beast mode for the win” theory. It ended in OT with a 4th and 1 on the Rams 42:2012-2014 Seattle Seahawks Goal To Go from 1 yard line prior to Butler play they were DEAD LAST in the NFL in TD conversion rate:
16 plays Lynch run: 6 TDs
8 plays Wilson pass: 3 TDs, 2INC, 3 sacks
7 Wilson runs: 4TDs

As we all know, back in 2014 it had been 10 long years of agonizing playoff losses since 2004. With 3 rings, Brady was still a SB behind Montana and only one ahead of Eli and Big Ben. Every year I lived in fear that the Giants or Steelers would tie Brady at 3 and diminish his accomplishments, and I was starting to worry that for the rest of my life idiots in bars and on ESPN would talk about how "Brady never won after Spygate!"
Everything after the Butler Interception has been so much house money that we've bankrupted the casino.

That's why (EDIT) Josh Boyer saw Seattle had 3 WRs on the field and screamed to Brian Flores: "Three corners! Flo, send Malcolm!" and Brian Flores turns around and screams "MALCOLM, GO!" And the rest is... well, you know.
The trailer for that one still gives me goosebumps:
Does anyone know where there would be a clip that shows that moment, of Belichick studying the opposite sideline while all the other stuff is happening? I'd love to see the look on his face. (not that it would look all that different from when he's cracking a rare joke in a press conference)Agreed, it really sums up one of the things which makes Belichick so great as a coach. He knew the "chalk" move to preserve clock there, and his coaching team was ensuring he thought about that. But he has more time in the game than almost anyone, and he knows this is a business of people. So he doesn't stare at a play sheet, or yell at someone, or emote. He studies the other sideline, takes in the information, plays it against decades of "what it should look like over there", thinks about the low probability of stopping Seattle if they get time to plan, and lets it ride.
There cannot be many, if any, other coaches in the league who would process all of that and make the call he did. And that reality is why he's been to more Super Bowls than any other coach.
IIRC, that moment is in “Do Your Job.” You hear some assistant coach tell it from his POV, then you see BB at that moment, speaking into the headset. And since the assistant has just told us what BB said, it’s pretty easy to read his lips.Does anyone know where there would be a clip that shows that moment, of Belichick studying the opposite sideline while all the other stuff is happening? Jackson made a strong first impression on many of his teammates. Gilmore told Robinson that Jackson is the most athletic cornerback he’s ever played across.

Seriously. These guys never learn. Thanks Nickell Robey-Coleman. That's all Brady needs right there is more reason to feel doubted. I mean, are people still this stupid?
Robey-Coleman said he sees ways to get to Brady “all over the place” and that the quarterback “will slowly start to reveal himself” if the Rams defense can stay connected. What will be revealed? Robey-Coleman faced Brady several times over four years with the Bills and thinks the current version is noticeably different.
“Yes. Yes. Age has definitely taken a toll. For him to still be doing it, that’s a great compliment for him. But I think that he’s definitely not the same quarterback he was,” Robey-Coleman said. “Movement. Speed. Velocity. Arm strength. He still can sling it, but he’s not slinging it as much. Whatever he was doing—because of his age and all that—he’s not doing as much of that anymore. He’s still doing the same things; he’s just not doing as much of it. And sometimes, it’s not the sharpest. But it still gets done.”

I was on a flight when I saw this last year and Brady looks so fucking weird in it.I hear some of you guys are looking to kill some time this week with Patriots-related content. Here's one... but you gotta watch till the end, even if the somewhat-stiff interview questions grate a bit in the early going. The payoff, so to speak, is worth it.
(there's also part 2 featuring Brady's legendary beer-chugging abilities)

But wait, there’s more...Seriously. These guys never learn.
Or take the pts and kick the fg.I hope the Patriots are ahead 42-7 with five minutes left and it’s 4th and goal from the five and they punt the ball into the balcony.
Wasn't there a play this year where we got a RB touchdown on a nice outside run (or screen) to the left, and the last line of defense might have been able to make a play but coming straight at them was Trent Brown and instead they just dove out of the way rather than get road-graded? I think it was on a Belichick Breakdown. They just need to run a play which enables Gronk to throw Nickell Robey-Coleman "out of the club" as his final act...
Even in '07 the only time they actively ran up the score was on the Redskins game. Belichick really wanted to stick it to Joe Gibbs for some reason. The other blowouts they basically ran Heath Evans and Kyle Eckel up the middle for most of the 4th quarter (and sometimes teams couldn't even stop that). People wanted them to sit Brady midway through the second quarter of some of those games, looking back on it the outcry was so disproportionate to what actually went on.I honestly can’t rememmber the last FU touchdown or decision to go for it on 4th up 30+. Maybe the AFCG vs Indy? Bill has chilled considerably since the ‘07 days.
That was a hell of a game. Same day the Sox beat the Rockies in game 4, too. What a day to be alive.Even in '07 the only time they actively ran up the score was on the Redskins game. No. Nobody remembers him.2007 game against the Steelers. Remember Anthony Smith fellas?

When it makes your Wiki entry, you know you have arrived.No. Nobody remembers him.
"If you don't like it, then stop us."I don't get the outcry about teams going for it or scoring when up by a lot. Are they supposed to just kneel the ball and punt if up by too much? If so, how much? And what about the people that paid to see 4 quarters of football?
Seems generous to go for it on 4th instead of kicking a FG since you give them a chance to stop you instead of just adding another 3 points.
