Rortvedt and Allen in tonight, who's excited? This guy.
One thing is for sure, we have better pieces on the roster and in better places than last year and ones who we won't feel bad getting rid of should they not work out. Now just get rid of Donaldson as soon as he goes 5 for 37.

DJ is the one who makes me nervous, hopefully he can get back to his old self sometime.

Volpe boots a ball to the third batter of the first, letting him reach. If Volpe makes the (pretty easy) play, Schmidt gets out of the first with 12 pitches. Instead he ending up throwing 29, the kind of play that quietly changes a game.

Boone (possibly) said afterwards:

"If those SoSH lunatics can't even be bothered to post during the entirety of a big division game like this, of course our guys aren't going to show up either. Hopefully that thread will wake up for the Padres series."

Oh, I'll be there for the Padres series on Sunday. Right behind the Yankees dugout. :)
Cool!

Mrs. EE and I will be behind the Yankees dugout on Monday in Seattle. We'll get to count how many times German gets checked for foreign substances in person.

Oh, now it makes sense why IKF has started to hit, he is gearing up for his biggest fan. :)

Boone suspended for tonight's game after being thrown out three times in the last ten games.

I really thought IKF was going to come through during that 10 pitch AB with two on in the 7th.

That IFK magic, as fleeting as it was, may already be gone. :(

Sevvy looks strong today. Through three innings, no hits, no walks, four strikeouts. 31 pitches. Great stuff.

Seve looks awesome thru 3 perfect innings today. Throwing 99, getting a few bad swings. Only 31 pitches.

Sorry guys, was just going to comment on how great Severino looks. That one’s on me.

We veterans think alike!
:)

Even setting aside the HR that Tatis just hit, I get the feeling that Severino is one of those guys who benefits from the pitch clock. He already has a good cadence, and that, plus powerful stuff is a strong combination.

I really enjoy listening to O'Neill break down ABs like he just did with Volpe.

I do wish he had less to work with lately.

This team is killing themselves every game they don’t have Peraza at SS and Volpe at 2B.

Gleyber sure seems to nonchalant grounders into errors. Cano had that gliding way of moving, too.

The bottom four hitters lately have been abysmal. Not sure when the Yankees last were this weak.

Fantastic play by DJ to get Tatis, I thought he should just eat the ball there but he actually got him.

Looks like IKF has temporarily won the LF spot:

1. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
5. Harrison Bader (R) CF
6. Willie Calhoun (L) DH
7. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) LF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS

A Little League home run! Bader airmails home plate, Higgy chases it down and throws ball into left field.

This is shaping up as a sequel to today’s Rays-Dodgers game, which is 11-10 in top of ninth.

The NY position players are currently passing a hat to fund @Brand Name coming to every game from now on. 7 runs in that inning, only 5 total in the previous 3 games.
