You sound like a person who needs to venture on over to here: https://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?threads/put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is-or-lets-make-some-money-for-charity.39072/Any time before October.
There's no guarantee that 3 days later will be any warmer.41 degrees on opening day?
You be grateful
Whatever moron decided to put opening day in March in New England should be tarred and feathered and fried in avocado oil
Cleveland, Detroit, Yankees, Mets, Cubs, White Sox, Twins, Phillies, Rockies and Red Sox that’s it.There's no guarantee that 3 days later will be any warmer.
Edit: I know they could start on a roadtrip. But there's a lot of teams in the north. Some of them have to host.
BingoActually, looking at the schedule, I don't know why this series couldn't be played in Baltimore.
Because neither team wants to host Opening Day, because that means you are likely home for at least six games (two series) and although the first game will sell well, the others won’t. Every team wants more home games later in the season. And every team can’t get that so they switch off.Actually, looking at the schedule, I don't know why this series couldn't be played in Baltimore.
That's a good point actually. We're going to see 2010 very rarely if ever again. (Fenway opening to Yankees off a WS win for them) lol. (Although MLB does the schedule before previous season is over)Also a lot of teams don't want the Yankees or Red Sox as their Opening Day opponents because those teams draw good attendance most games so they'd rather have the good attendance for Opening Day against another team.
The NBA is so much more of a national sport though. Celtics-Bucks or Philly or whatever will draw a ton of national eyeballs as opposed to some lousy team. Baseball doesn’t draw nearly the national audience. That's a good point actually. We're going to see 2010 very rarely if ever again. (Fenway opening to Yankees off a WS win for them) lol. NBA doesn't seem to follow this strategy though. Kinda wish they did.
How deep into the herb garden do you have to drill to reach the artesianal parsley? That would raise their retail value by about 500%. More if hand-garnished with artesianal parsley, prepared in the classic French style.
If you're drilling in spring, it basically comes to you.How deep into the herb garden do you have to drill to reach the artesianal parsley?
Well done.If you're drilling in spring, it basically comes to you.
Yeah that’s gonna be a no from me.
I was just thinking the way to stop this shit quick is a seizure complaint or some other medically induced issue from them. This was at twilight, it’s going to look shittier when it’s a night game. I think they need to come up with a better way to use them than that light show.As soon as I saw they installed the led lights I fucking knew they'd use them for that. Sucks for those people who are prone to seizures and migraines I guess.
You can’t see the cheer squad with half the lights offIt's the cheapest most bush league shit ever. There's no reason Fenway Park should be doing that kind of trash.
Isn't this something that's been happening following goals at the Garden for years? Maybe I'm misremembering. I think it's dumb but my understanding was it's basically the way of stadiums now.Would it look better if they changed light colors instead of turning them on and off?
The push back on this feels a little odd to me, even as an older fart, because they’ve been doing this stuff in basketball and hockey arenas for years.
I guarantee you one of these days a player will miss a base during this circus atmosphere, and we will have wonderful chaos. From the stands my take was the lights blinking thing took away from seeing Duvall run happily and the other players react and move. It didn't add anything, was distracting, and just looked silly.
How many games a year do you go to? I love a sausage with peppers and onions, but I really don't want to eat a couple dozen over the course of the season.I'm a Fenway Frank, Sausage Guy and a beer fan. After that, do you.

At hockey games, it's spotlights hitting the ice and circling around. So there is a light show component, but it doesn't involve the rest of the lights going dark so you can't see what's happening (or start thinking your TV is on the fritz).Isn't this something that's been happening following goals at the Garden for years? Well thank you. I'm glad you dig it.Well done.
Ditto. Was enjoying the game... watching a walk-off and that foolishness started - want to see him run the bases,Hard no here, too
I was at the game and the effect was pretty cool, it sort of mimicked the end of the The Natural, though I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. The crowd was already going wild, and the lighting bolstered that, similar to a fireworks display. My 17-year old daughter was jumping up and down and taking it all in. She was already a baseball fan, but this certainly cemented that, which I suspect is the point.View: https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1642320281325932544?s=20
Seriously- what did this add to the experience of watching this game? I am amazed that it was allowed to happen.
Jumping up and down at a baseball game?!? What kind of kid are you raising? Did you at least have your top coat and bowler hat on to set a proper example and live up to the expectations of this board?I was at the game and the effect was pretty cool, it sort of mimicked the end of the The Natural, though I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Live a little, people. Christ.
SoSH is historically resistant to most ballpark changes. I've posted here for two decades and, for the most part, every new thing introduced at Fenway is immediately dismissed or attacked. Meanwhile, those who were actually at the park on Saturday have said the lights were a cool addition."live a little" and "lighten up" irk me a bit. Most of the people here are saying the lights detracted from their enjoyment of a great, memorable moment. That seems like a fair criticism, why are you trying to invalidate it?
Yes. This board has a long history of tut tutting most things that aren't quiet appreciation for the finer points of the game. Billboards are garish, speakers are too loud, patches on the uniforms are a disgrace, and now the light show didn't allow viewers at home to see whether Duvall touched second base, and I'm sure if the Sox added home run fireworks we'd hear about all the poor dogs in the neighborhood traumatized by such foolishness.SoSH is historically resistant to most ballpark changes.
