One of my favorite parts of baseball is that you can watch it every single night for years and years, but each game allows the chance of seeing what no fans have seen before.
I was an inning early.
It must be such an amazing feeling to know it like that.
My wife, from Cleveland, who lost her mother 11 months ago and our dog 3 weeks ago, is bawling buckets. It's a good moment.

3 runs in 24 innings for the series sweep. All the talk about how these two teams manufacture runs without the long ball and it takes 3 home runs to score any runs at all. Doing it against Kluber was kind of surreal.
I read that teams who outhomered their opponent in the 2021 postseason were 25-2, it’s great to manufacture runs (like PHI did in the 9th yesterday), but homers generally decide it.
I have no expectations against the Yankees. There has never been a more "just happy to be here" playoff team for me. That said, the two Cleveland teams that came closest to winning it all – 1997 and 2016 – also were the teams with the lowest expectations. The '97 team was the worst pitching staff of those '90s teams and in 2016 they only had half a rotation with Carrasco and Salazar both getting injured in September.
That game is why I pray they never mess with the postseason extra innings rules. Postseason marathons, regardless of the sport but especially in baseball, are magical and memorable.
Definitely big, they can’t start Bieber and McKenzie until games 2 and 3, but the bullpen gets two days off.
The Rays evened out the karma with their own squander with a man on 3rd and 1 out.
This zoom-in makes it seem like Naylor did come off the bag. I don't really fault the umps as this was a "sun-screened" play
