Considering the one point per game scorer Vanderbilt was supposed to be starting to shore up the defense, that was a particularly brutal dressing down.
This guy is over the top for sure, but the lack of proper positioning and other failures in consistently implementing proper defensive principles is an indictment of the coaching staff and the culture the players and coaches have created. On paper, a defensive line up of AD, LBJ, Prince, Vanderbilt, and Reddish should be decent at least.

That 5 man lineup has played 18 minutes together on the season. And yea, they got smoked in those minutes, but talk about a small sample

i know you can do this for every team in every game in this league...but he does point out some solid stuff sometimes. though its insanely hard/effectively impossible to be perfectly locked in on defense every possession.
i'm sure it's wearing off hard for people but i still lol at some of these, hes pretty funny.

I think the turnovers and rebounding energy were a far, far bigger problem than specific defensive stuff, adjusting for the fact that you're not going to play "playoff 4th Q locked in" defense in this type of game.

He doesn't get that many views (most videos have less than a thousand, very few have more than a few thousand) but he's is really churning out the content here. 39 videos in one week, for games from 1/26-2/1.
his commentary is performance art but the actual stop-action video is a nice recap of a few isolated plays

Heat Culture IS losing without Lebron.
Tyler Herro is a major problem (for Miami) defensively. It doesn't appear to be an effort thing, it's 50-50 physical (slow feet, short arms, weak body) and mental (he plays like a young rookie - slow to rotate, bad leverage, anytime a quick decision has to be made he's always wrong). If he's not allowed to hand check aggressively, he's not much better than Haliburton/Young/Lillard. It's not some major mystery why the Heat have made a couple of deep playoff runs without him. At least Duncan Robinson is pretty long (6'7 with a 7 foot wingspan).

Excellent post and we saw all of it on display yesterday. There was one play that stands out showing his physical weakness. Tatum just went through him taking it to the hoop. Didn’t score on the initial attempt but did on the putback. Herro offered zero resistance because he just physically couldn’t.
We also got to see the incessant hand checking in the second half. It’s really the only thing in his defensive bag.
I can't get through this. Did he mention that the Cs were playing zone at any point?

He should totally do an offshoot where he does this for real life jobs. At the dentist:
Does this guy even have a CLUE what he’s doing? Look. Right there. If he uses the #1 metal pick on the incisor, he’s got that piece of plaque nice and easy. But no, he waits too long reaching for the #2 pick, and the patient closes his mouth and wedges the plaque in there even more. And now it’s a problem. It would have been a slam dunk to get it out and now it’s going to take MINUTES!
I haven't watched all (many) of his videos, but I had been thinking that it would be nice to see him pointing out good D, as opposed to arm-chair coaching.

Having KP drop to the rim lets all the Celtic defenders play aggressive/tight perimeter defense (& go over screens).
Small quibble, but don't love CJM pulling KP for PP in late-game defensive situations. God forbid if this guy gets a look at those last 6 seconds versus the Hawks. Porzingis is very capable of challenging/blocking perimeter shots.
That was well past the point he needed to go to, but hey, the guy's prone to hyperbole and overreaction, this is not news.
Like, no, Porzingis is not a rim-protector at the level of Peak Rudy Gobert, nevermind, say, Bill Russell or Mutombo. But it's certainly true that he's playing at a very high level right now defensively, and that very few players in the league can alter a running-downhill Zion Williamson's intent at the rim like KP did. And I appreciate a little film breakdown of it, even if it comes with a side of nervous breakdown too.
Film breakdown was okay. Would have been better without the commentary.
Also, from my vantage point (or lack thereof) seemed like the only reason KP could defend Zion at the rim is precisely because Zion was not going downhill with a full head of steam like he normally does - which was largely because of JB willing to play up on Zion and take the first hit without getting completely wiped out.

I stopped after he started screaming at Pat Bev about helping Giannis guard Jordan Poole (32% from 3P) when Pat Bev was guarding Corey Kispert (38% from 3P).
Although him pointing out how Pat Bev's lack of effort lead to a easy layup was spot on!

Guy must be back on the good meds, his cup runneth over here watching the Knicks play D on our starters. Still manages to pound the microphone at 3:15 though, beware.
