At 110 pitches...kinda borderline with his history, but I feel like you have to give him the opportunity.

With his history, I think it's a bad idea.  That said, I don't see how Mattingly can pull him now.  His pitch count is just low enough that it would be a shit storm for him.  Of course, if Becket throws another 12-15 pitches and then has his shoulder implode in two weeks, it'll be a shit show for that.  I almost feel bad for him.

I can't believe they don't have anyone up in the bullpen. 122 pitches so far.

You're kidding me. Walking Rollins in that situation should have gotten him pulled.

Assist to the ump on those last two pitches, but very happy for Beckett.  '07 was great, thanks Josh.

Edit: also, it was complete and total bullshit that no one was warming.  Tradition be damned, he's older with a very spotty health track record.

Here's the final at bat of Josh's no-no.

Edit: Oops, meant this for the game thread.  Removed the non-pssst relevant stuff.

Wasn't strike 3 clearly a strike?

I also thought I heard the announcer say 2 people were warming in the pen.

Edit:  Or clearly borderline I guess….

Sometimes, when your team is scuffling, it's just nice to root for baseball. I enjoyed that.

No way. This isn't a 22 year old kid here. He's going to get his shot.

And despite earlier post, there were 2 guys warming in pen.

Yeah, it's nice to see.  I said it in the game thread, but the chicken and beer bullshit was a media overreaction that the fans bought into.  I don't get the Beckett hate.  He carried the rotation to the 2007 title.  Didn't take long for people to turn on him, though.

The 2-2 call was worse than the strike 3.

They were borderline. But come on, when there are hundreds of pitches every single day worse than that that are called strikes you're really picking nit here. No hitters are cool. It doesn't any way have any impact on the Sox. Root for cool shit, he ain't Arod.

He carried the rotation to the 2007 title.

And he gets major props for shoving it up the Yankees ass in 2003 as well.

Well there is something rarer than a perfect game, a SOSH wanting someone to bunt bunt.
