I'm a bit disappointed there wasn't a follow up question about the reporting they didn't use all their list spots for the MiLB Rule 5. & questions about Bonaci & Smil would of course been appreciated, but I'm sure there's limitations inherent in the ability to talk to these guys.

Abraham is a Zaxby's guy. Not sure what that says about his talent evaluation.

We wanted to keep it higher level since it was first time having him on. Still trying to build trust so we stayed away from the “good” stuff.

Was listening to ^ this morning.

Bryant was acquired from the Cubs for Josh Osich trade. Osich allowed 3 runs in 2.2 innings over 4 games with the Cubs before being released. I'm his 7 year career, Osich has a -2.4 fWAR.

Bryant, who missed last season with an arm injury, doesn't seem like he's ever really that likely to make it, but I'll still consider the trade a win.

Bryant, 25, is a 6'1 RHP who was drafted in the 15th round in 2019. He grew up in FL a Red Sox fan.

In '21, he pitched pretty well for Greenville:

48.1 IP, 3.54 ERA, 4.28 xFIP, 12.1 k/9, 3.4 bb/9.

But struggled greatly in Portland in '22:

33 IP, 7.64 ERA, 6.35 xFIP, 8.2 k/9, 6.6 bb/9

I was writing this up while listening to the pod & Ed started asking about his Greenville year at the same time. Obviously he wasn't prick-y enough in his Portland year...& then Bryant said that. Also, sore arm. This is some exciting live blogging that no one gets to read live.

Bryant mentioned turning a corner in Greenville.

Something is up with Ed's audio quality in this one. Or everyone else's. Ed sounds really loud & not that crisp so it's a bit jarring every time he jumps in.

CFA BBQ sauce is mid, but the Polynesian is pretty elite. I don't like these glorified Russian dressing sauces, though. But if Andrew wants to make his own Zax sauce...

To answer your question about running stuff by guys in advance, we typically don’t. We obviously are going to tread a little lighter with front office and management because if we don’t, they might not ever talk to us again lol. I apologize for the softball-ish questions on that one but it’s all about building that relationship.

I’m actually interested if he’s a version of a type of player that comes back into use by teams as the rules changes re-emphasize baserunning and putting the ball in play, or will power always be the bigger factor for OFs.

There's tons of different ways to get WAR & be a useful contributor. The question, to me, is if Rosier has those carrying skills. He's fast... but he's not a particularly instinctual defender & he has an average arm.

While I was thinking about his profile I just had the thought that he's very Dave Roberts-y. 5'10 LHH OF with ++ speed but not the best instincts in the OF.

There are some baseball things that I really hope to hear in the pod that would make me more optimistic on Rosier, so we'll see how it goes.

One thing you could mention as a follow up if he talks about his speed is that he was the SoxProspects Red Sox Minor League base stealer of the month in April, May & July this past year.
