I don't think it necessarily has to be first line or bust. If he's a solid contributor on the 2nd or 3rd lines, then it's still worth the ELC burn.Eddie Jurak said:Didn't take very long after burning an ELC year for Pastrnak to get bumped off of the first line. I get not wanting to trust an 18 yrear old in the middle of a playoff push, but if that was the judgment then burning a contract year was asinine.
If he's going to get less ice time at even strength than Campbell - as was the case tonight- then the Bruins wasted a contract year for nothing. If they don't trust him defensively enough to give h a regular shift, then they wasted a contract year for nothing.cshea said:Julien says he made the switch to keep Pastrnak away from the Tavares line. Seems reasonable.
So what was his ice time vs Campbell for the other games? Surely you'd never cherry pick stats to suit your argument.Eddie Jurak said:If he's going to get less ice time at even strength than Campbell - as was the case tonight- then the Bruins wasted a contract year for nothing. The trade deadline has not passed yet - I 'll be surprised if the Bruins don't add a forward.PedroSpecialK said:The Bruins haven't wasted a year of service time until he hits 40 games. All they've done is give him RFA status a year earlier. I'm fine with this trade off when the alternative is surrendering high picks for a Chris Stewart/Erik Cole type player.
The pickings at the trade deadline are expected to be slim, especially as the B's do have cap issues to worry about. Top 6 forwards will be extremely difficult to come by this year, I don't see this team giving up a first rounder for a bottom 6 forward, and later round picks are only going to net depth players, some of whom will be on bad contracts from the Bruins perspective.Eddie Jurak said:The trade deadline has not passed yet - I 'll be surprised if the Bruins don't add a forward.
He swapped him with Talbot. Or alternated with Talbot and Campbell. I remember seeing Talbot with the line but not Campbell.Eddie Jurak said:I was a little surprised he chose to sit Pastrnak rather than just sitting the whole line or breaking it up. Swapping Campbell in for Pastrnak did not exactly improve the line's performance. I think Claude may have to switch up the lines soon.
they both got shifts.kenneycb said:He swapped him with Talbot. Or alternated with Talbot and Campbell. I remember seeing Talbot with the line but not Campbell.
I agree things have worked out well lately - but the Spooner line has struggled for a couple of games. It didn't, but could have, cost them both today and yesterday. I'm not sure how much longer (assuming they continue to have problems) Claude lets that continue (or should let it continue). Although shuffling lines would cause other problems. The Four Peters said:The line played well with Talbot for his 2 shifts. It was pretty bad with Campbell For his one shift. It was 3 shifts total we're talking about here.
I might be missing sarcasm here, but why is Claude changing up the lines when they just took 7 points in 4 games? I think things have worked out quite well with this group so far.
It's a legit option, but one that would weaken the line's offensive potential - which is in part the reason for having that line It makes a little more sense to me as an in-game move than as a permanent one.cshea said:They could consider flipping Kelly and Lucic. Gives the kids a defensively responsible winger to ease the defensive burden.

Yeah but can't he just get on Tinder like the rest of us? That worked out so well for Edelman...oh...wait...never mind.Salem's Lot said:
he's better off doing this then going out trolling for women, partying and being late/hungover for practices or morning skates. All kidding aside, these guys aren't robots. he's an 18 year old kid looking to get laid like every other 18 year old kid. As long as he's staying away from the wives/family of people in the organization there won't be a problem.
Well, he's 18 and it's Ontario, so he can't go out to bars in that province.Salem's Lot said:
