Right. It’s uneven team to team. UFA’s should be in their own different category. IMHO.If Seattle did pick a UFA and they didn’t want to sign there, they would be free to sign with any other team on 7/28. All Seattle would be drafting is that 7 day negotiating window that the player would have with the team that they finished 20-21 with anyway.
you draft a player, he should be yours for at least that year. You lose a player in the draft, you should lose something truly tangible (or gain, if he has an overpriced contract)
if you can only negotiate with one or two teams (even If only for A week), you’re not really unrestricted.
