Three TD receptions!I'll really miss pre-game video of a defensive end warming up with the Juggs machine.
That never made any sense to me whatsoever. The dude had 2 career interceptions. What was he trying to accomplish by warming up that way?

Stidham against Bosa and the niners D in his first game… line has already jumped 3 points.View: https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1608178542977613827?t=tAP_ag6WXi3VyU3e4F9Ytg&s=19
LOL Raiders benching Carr for Stidham in one of the most blatant tank for higher pick moves in NFL history
4 points now. 6 to 10.Stidham against Bosa and the niners D in his first game… line has already jumped 3 points.
Not sure how I would feel if Stidham found success in the NFL. Although I'm also concerned about a Zombie Apocalypse and I'm not sure which is more likelyView: https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1608178542977613827?t=tAP_ag6WXi3VyU3e4F9Ytg&s=19

Can’t imagine a single guy with tons of money would enjoy living a year or two in Las Vegas.Brady?
I'm going back to the extended post-game discussion Josh had with Mac after the lateral debacle. Wouldn't surprise me if Josh tried to pry Jones away and get him back to how he played his first season. Can’t imagine a single guy with tons of money would enjoy living a year or two in Las Vegas.
But, seriously, seems like a perfect spot for him, if he wants to continue. Adams, Waller, Renfrow + Josh. Maybe Jacobs. Could do a lot worse.
I made this prediction weeks ago. I think Carr ends up cut and lands in DC or Indy (lololololol on both of these options), and Brady is a Raider soon thereafter. The Niners make great sense for another ring, but they have little cap room to play with, and have get Lance playing regularly in order to get value out of a 5th year escalation. It'd be tough for them to get Brady the $25-30M he can command. Can’t imagine a single guy with tons of money would enjoy living a year or two in Las Vegas.

Carr for Jones!!! Who says no??? (ducking)I'm going back to the extended post-game discussion Josh had with Mac after the lateral debacle. Wouldn't surprise me if Josh tried to pry Jones away and get him back to how he played his first season.
If Brady comes back, I think it's SF or Miami
Well, there’s still the money…Makes me sad. Adams went there to play with his best friend, can't imagine he's very happy right now.
True, I just loved the story of two buddies finally getting a chance to play together on the big stage, just a shame it went as poorly as it did. I mean Carr was so good last year, how was he soooo bad this year with one of the best receivers in the league? Is Josh partially to blame?Well, there’s still the money…
The Raiders last year were an absolute disaster where the head coach was suspended for being a piece of shit and a WR literally killed someone with his car and Rich Bassachia took over and scratched and clawed his way to the playoffs and were inches away from beating the team that ultimately made the Super Bowl.True, I just loved the story of two buddies finally getting a chance to play together on the big stage, just a shame it went as poorly as it did. He must be showing something in practice. Guy has the physical tools. I’m happy for him to get a start. Hopefully he don’t get demolished by the 9ers D.Not sure how I would feel if Stidham found success in the NFL. Good spin: He realizes it's best if he steps away so Stidham doesn't look over his shoulder.
If the team is benching you because the other guy is better, absolutely. If the team is benching you because they don't want to pay you going forward, the hell with that.Good spin: He realizes it's best if he steps away so Stidham doesn't look over his shoulder.
Bad spin: Buck the fuck up and be a good teammate.
Is it that fucking hard to just say, "I wish it had gone better for me, but I'll give Stid whatever help he asks for or tell him if I see something that might help."Good spin: He realizes it's best if he steps away so Stidham doesn't look over his shoulder.

And what happens if Stidham gets hurt? The Niners will probably sack him 5-6 times. There is real injury risk here.Is it that fucking hard to just say, "I wish it had gone better for me, but I'll give Stid whatever help he asks for or tell him if I see something that might help."
espn: Undrafted rookie free agent Chase Garbers will be the backup. And what happens if Stidham gets hurt? The Niners will probably sack him 5-6 times. There is real injury risk here.
I prefer to call him by his nickname: “chum”
Maybe the Raiders literally said, "stay away." Then maybe I'm being too harsh on Carr. Otherwise, it just seems petulant.Given the contract terms, the last thing the Raiders would want is Carr going back in to take snaps and get injured. So, this "permission" looks like a convenient cover story for the team telling him he would not get another snap this season.
Garber? Easy as Pelham 1-2-3
I agree completely with this post.Carr isn't starting and isn't going to be the backup. I doubt the Raiders even want him in the weight room working out. The Raiders have basically told him he's done there and please don't get hurt.
And I'm guessing some of his teammates are pissed too, so yeah, it probably is a distraction. Carr sticking around, teammates commiserating with him, and everything about the situation makes it harder, not easier, for Stidham to prepare for the last two games. Carr has never had a reputation as a bad teammate. I think if the team really wanted him around to help Stidham prepare, he'd do it.
Given his contract, Carr has had this hanging over his head all season. Now that they've made the decision, him stepping away is the right call for him and the team. If he doesn't retire, at least he has a no trade clause and can go where he wants. I'm sure there will be some teams interested.
all of this. No way they want him near any raider property where he could get injured say lifting weights, and it triggers the guarantees.Given the contract terms, the last thing the Raiders would want is Carr going back in to take snaps and get injured. I definitely do not want to pay Derek Carr $117m over the next three years, so between the two, I'll take Mac.Of course I have no idea what's going on inside the Raiders' organization, but I really don't understand this.
In their last 6 games, the Raiders are 4-2. In Carr's last 8 games he's gone: 156-265 (58.9%), 1,901 yds, 7.2 y/a, 15 td, 9 int
I guess that's not very good, I suppose. It's not terrible though. I know he's thrown a lot of picks but he still seems like a pretty decent NFL quarterback. Obviously Josh wants a major improvement there.
Pats fans - would you rather have Derek Carr right now, with his contract, or Mac Jones with his?
Since I’m the leader of the “most QB stats are really unhelpful” club, those numbers don’t suggest that he’s been any good. A 58% completion rate in this era is awful. 9 picks in 6 games is also very bad. The only game I watched him in it’s entirety was vs. the Pats, and he looked lousy. The Raiders want to get him off the books, so this makes sense to me.Of course I have no idea what's going on inside the Raiders' organization, but I really don't understand this.

Adams may be his buddy but the two of them have been awful for the last few weeks together. Adams has 9 catches on 25 targets last 3 weeks. 114 yards.Since I’m the leader of the “most QB stats are really unhelpful” club, those numbers don’t suggest that he’s been any good. And I would not want Carr’s contract in any way.
yeah I have Adams in fantasy too.Adams may be his buddy but the two of them have been awful for the last few weeks together. Adams has 9 catches on 25 targets last 3 weeks. 114 yards.
The new team would have to guarantee all of his 2023 salary and 7.5M of his 2024 salary. But he’d be very cuttable after the first year from cap and cash perspectives (large net cap savings and mostly non guaranteed salary). How does Carr's contact work if he accepts a trade? Three years with manageable cap hits if the team that trades for him wants to move on during the first two? If so, I think if he doesn't retire early that he could probably get a contract that has lower money by year but gives him more security on a longer deal with a team that he can choose himself if he refuses a trade. Let the Raiders cut him.
He was terrible this year, but he's 31 and I don't think he's washed. He could be, but maybe McD contributed to the problem(s). Who knows.
The 4-2 run may have oddly been a point in favor of shutting down Carr. Remember, although perhaps overblown, that McDaniels was perceived as doing the worst job of coaches not named Nathaniel Hackett early in the season. I'm sure he went to ownership and said 'Do you guys really believe in me, because I may be making a major shakeup and after working close to a full season don't believe Carr is the guy to win us a Super Bowl.'Of course I have no idea what's going on inside the Raiders' organization, but I really don't understand this.
