So the Blue Jays acquired a guy with homer problems. That's totally not going to bite them in the ass.

Twins offer manager job to Molitor.

The Twins have offered Molitor, a Hall of Fame player and a coach on Gardenhire’s staff last season, a contract as the 13th manager in team history, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the search. The team plans to introduce its new manager Tuesday morning at Target Field, one source said, barring a last-minute change of heart by Twins owner Jim Pohlad and the team’s front office, or a snag in negotiations over financial terms and coaching staff.

Colbrunn resigned as the Red Sox hitting coach after the 2014 season and had ties to the Yankees in the past after being in their minor league system, and on Friday night, Colbrunn was hired by the Yankees as a hitting coach, but not the hitting coach job people thought he would be expected to take. As Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reported, Colbrunn has been hired to be the team's hitting coach in Class-A in Charleston.

Did he resign, do you think?

Mets sign Michael Cuddyer to a 2 year deal just before the deadline for him to accept the QO, numbers not announced yet but they give up a pick.

Sandy Alderson makes Mets fans long for the days of Omar Minaya.

Not sure whether or not this is sarcasm, but that may actually be true. At least Omar made Mets fans happy during the winter with "big" signings..

2 years, $21 is not a bad deal on Cuddyer. If he can stay healthy, he'll hit. The Meta need offense; many suggested they should give up Murphy and pitching for Cespedes, isn't this preferable? Depending on how the market goes, this could end up being real value.

And the draft pick?

The Mets are not a Michael Cuddyer away from competing.

They might be closer than you think, keep in mind Matt Harvey is coming back next year. They are loaded with young, top-end pitching and if Wright and Granderson hit like they can/should, couple that with Duda, Murphy, Cuddyer, dominant D in CF from Lagares, maybe D'Arnaud developing and they could certainly take a run at a wild card.

Cuddyer gor $21M for 2 years from #mets

Cuddyer gets 2 yrs at $21M $8.5m in 2015, $12.5M in 2016 #Mets

Now it makes no sense from either side. Cuddy could have made $15.3mm guaranteed by staying in COL and taking the chance he could make $5.7mm in year 2.  Instead, he signs a back-ended 2 year deal.

I can't believe the Rockies got away with that QO.  Well, good for them, I guess.

And good for his agent, I guess, who is likely happy with a bonus $200k or so in his pocket without having to do anything else.  But if Cuddyer doesn't feel confident he can put up sufficient numbers to earn another $5.7 million 2016, why would give up $21 million and a pick for him?

I thought the new Rox GM, Bridich, was crazy for the QO, but it worked out after all.  Solid gamble that ended up paying off

And how should Wright hit? What is he?

I barely pay attention to the NL, but when a guy has .883/.904/.698 OPSs in his age 29-31 seasons and has a .871 career OPS, odds are good that the age 32 season will at least be back towards .800, assuming no major health issues.

Also, that division is very weak after the Nationals.

Phillies sign Francouer to minor league deal. That's such a perfect match that I'm stunned it hadn't happened before

And Burnett signed for less money to pitch for the Pirates. He turned down the $12.75m option to stay with the Phillies.
Doesn't surprise me one iota.  At his age, waiting for the Phillies to turn things around is simply stupid.  Go with a team that will be competitive while you still have time.

Hated aj with mfys but bucs fans love him around here so good for them I guess.
I think they'll love him even more when they see he turned down $4m more to play for them as opposed to the Phillies.

Seems like a pretty low risk deal for the DBacks but I'm willing to bet Hellickson gives up his fair share of HRs next season.

Yeah, I agree that they're probably lining up for another trade somewhere. I guess the Cubs don't trust Vizcaino's arm, they expect it to fall off again at some point.

Cubs and Mets seem like really logical trade partners to me in an infielder-for-pitching scenario, but things that seem logical and obvious to me usually don't happen.

Or maybe they just want Baez to go back to AAA and work on not striking out in 40% of his plate appearances.
