Anthony finished the day 2-5. Paulino was 2-4 with a homer & a walk. Blaze was 0-5 with 2 strikeouts. Erro was 1-3 with 2 walks...but got caught stealing AND picked off 1st.

Greenville won 6-1.

This was yet another incorrect starter on the list (Walter started neither game for Worcester today...maybe he's coming up?). But Isaac Coffey started for Portland & pitched 6 scoreless innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts.

Sea Dogs won 2-0.

Joely pitched the 7th & allowed a walk & a hit but no runs. Joely has been rehabbing so much this year that he has 8 minor league games to 5 major league games.

The recently demoted Taylor Broadway pitched a scoreless 8th with 2 hits & 2 strikeouts.

& Luis Guerrero got his 13th save by pitching the 9th, a 1-2-3 inning lowering his ERA to 1.19.

Portland only had 4 hits to go with 14 strikeouts, & Yorke/Mayer/Meidroth combined for 0-11 with 5 strikeouts (Yorke did at least have a walk).

Salem lost 2-0 & only had 3 hits. I guess at least Cutter Coffey & Brooks Bannon each had one?

Worcester swept the doubleheader, winning game 2, 4-2.

They made it a bullpen game.

The newly acquired Andrés Núñez who was picked up from the Royals pitched 2 scoreless innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts.

The nearly as newly acquired Tayler Scott also pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits & recording 1 strikeout.

Rafaela homered as pictured above in the 5th, & Dalbec, Palka & Crook all hit solo homers in the 6th.

Given that the letters in his name say otherwise, I'm leaning toward the broadcaster being wrong on this one.

I was at this game. Joely had zero command, and an ugly inning was saved by a hard-hit DP. Yorke came close on a drive to deep left center. Seemed like enough height and distance to have been a homer at Fenway. Coffee tops out at 91, but throws strikes. his delivery may be funky enough to become a BP arm, in a ROOGY-ish role. Guerrero is electric, and has a chance if he can command. He did in his inning last night. Mayer‘s ABs were not good. 2 Ks and 2 weak two-hoppers to 1B.

Definitely enjoy the 1st person accounts & hope you/others keep them coming.

AAA Faria - JAG

AA Dobbins - Gathering steam

AA Gambrell - Discussed yesterday

A+ Wikelman - On a nice roll

A Ramirez - 2.39 ERA in 49 innings so far this year, though. 22 y/o from Santa Domingo, DR, signed for $40k in 2018.

DSL Blue Garcia - 17 y/o from Santa Inez, VZ. Signed for $130k in January of this year. 5th most of any Red Sox signing, most of any pitcher signed by $55k. 3.55 ERA in 12.2 IP so far.

Oops, missed Cristian Nunez in that, & that a bunch of the games have already happened lol

Cristian was signed for $20k out of LA Vega, DR in '21.

DSL Red won 9-5 today. Daniel Nunez pitched 3 scoreless with 4 walks & 5 strikeouts.

C Andruw Musett, 17, went 3-4 with 2 homers & a walk to raise his average to .327 & OPS to .962.

FCL Red Sox lost the first 7 inning game of their doubleheader 6-1.

Mikey Romero went 1-3 to raise his average to .267? Not much else in terms of good news.

DSL Blue lost 9-8 in 10 innings, despite a good start from Garcia (1 run in 4 innings, 6 k's, lowering his ERA to 3.24).

YOEILIN went 3-6 with a double (.355/.959).

Starlyn Nunez went 3-4 with 2 walks (.353/.892). Nunez is 17 from San Pedro de Macoris, DR & was signed in January for $52,500.

Sorry to have bothered mentioning him back on Tuesday.
And if someone was demoted, the FCL team could also have a Jhostynxon (Garcia). I'd love to see Boston announcers handling that one.
Back when you mentioned him I had no clue how to pronounce his name either lol

Probably why that stuck out to me when I listened. Don't think he's that good of a prospect, though.

The other FCL Red Sox game went better as they won 8-2. Big rehab outting for Gilberto Jimenez...

Gilberto turns 23 on July 8th & was with Greenville prior to injury. He was signed for $10k in July '17 from San Cristobal, DR & was at one point considered the #7 prospect in the Sox system but is no longer in the top 60 as his development has stagnated.

JOHNFRANK went 2-4 (.358/.954).

Fraymi De Leon, who was just promoted, went 2-3 in his 1st FCL game.

View: https://twitter.com/SoxProspects/status/1674865243334271002

Albertson ("The Grocer") Asigen went 2-4 (.359/.944). Asigen turns 22 in August so probably not much of a surprise he's raking in the DSL. Signed for $10k in October '19.

Van der Schaaf walked 3 in 2/3 of an inning before being yanked.

Going to shout out Yonfi Rodriguez just because I think his name is pretty cool.

YONFI pitched 2 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run, & striking out 3. He lowered his ERA to 3.38.

YONFI turns 21 in exactly a month & is from Santa Domingo, DR. He signed for $10k in July '21.

This thread is by far the most enjoyable, feel-good Red Sox-related thread on this board right now. Please keep the updates coming!

So we have Starlyn Nunez, Daniel Nunez and Cristian Nunez? I wonder if any of them are related?
Nunez's can be good luck for the Red Sox.

In my head, I'm referring to him as Trotnixon Garcia.
I like that and might do the same, though as a Replacements fan I might just call him Yo Stinson Garcia instead.

AA - Gambrell, from Benny trade fame, has done ok since being promoted to Portland (4.10 ERA). Needs to strikeout more people, walk less people, & get better stuff. He's 25 already. Could be an organization filler type guy.
Gambrell did those things kinda! 5 innings, 2 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, ERA down to 4.04. Still probably mid.

Joely pitched a 1-2-3 6th. No idea if he looked any better today. 13 pitches, 8 strikes.

Portland won the 1st of 2 today 6-2. Zeferjahn walked 2 & struck out 2 to finish off the game in the 7th. Very Zeferjahny of him.

Wikelman pitched 5.2, 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 walks, 10 strikeouts. He's been on quite a roll lately, too.

In his last 5 starts, 25.2 IP, 7 ER, 16 hits, 9 walks, 45 strikeouts, 2.45 ERA.

Salem lost 4-2 Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz got the unexpected start (according to the SoxProspects list). 3 runs in 5 IP, raising his ERA to 2.55 & the loss drops his record to 6-2.

Gabriel Jackson pitched 3 innings of 1 run relief, raising his ERA to 3.10 in 43.2 IP. Jackson, 21, is from Semana, DR & was signed as an IFA for $350k in July '18.

Ryan Fernandez is apparently fallible. Blew the save in the 9th for the WooSox, allowing 4 hits & 2 runs.

Walter pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief today, which is kind of interesting in terms of usage.

Package hit a 3-run homer with 2 outs in the 10th to give them an 8-5 lead. Mosqueda in to try to close the game out in the bottom of the 10th.

He allowed 5 runs & they lost 10-8...

Sea Dogs scored a run in top 7th to tie (7 inning game) & a run in the 8th (see below), but allowed a run on the 8th already.

I think they are going to need to swing some deals for MLB talent to simultaneously clear the Rule 5 crunch but on the other hand someone like Bonaci has very little chance of being claimed.

Agreed.

Just a bit scary having all this cool 20-21 y/o talent that's already eligible. Feels like non-competitive teams should take the chance to grab guys with high ceilings in that manner.

Like Perales & Wikelman both seem closer to the majors & higher ceiling than Noah Song, despite the age difference.

Thad Ward & his 6+ ERA for the Nationals, too.

I also think it is much easier to hide a pitcher on an MLB roster than it is an overmatched position player.

It depends on if the overmatched position player has carrying skills like speed & defense, & how little you care about winning. But generally agree.
