yeah, this win means that if they win another game 2-3 teams could hypothetically pass them by losing out (though unclear, since losing out would actualy hurt those team's SOS and us winning would help our SOS amusingly). But if they lose out they are #2. Basically the Patriots could always win one game without much concern.
