In his presser today, Klopp has this to say. I have no idea what it means but am so glad to have him back on the sidelines this week.

When you make a combined line-up and have 11 players of Liverpool - it’s like a joke, like building a banana skin. The world at the moment is a circus and we are at the centre. I’m not influenced by it.

I gathered that much, but build a banana skin? The circus? I can only imagine how Liverpool players feel trying to follow Klopp’s pep talks - confusing and inspiring at once.

caught the last half hour of Everton-West Ham, which has somehow been both sloppy and entertaining. Everton deserve 3 points, but seem a little rickety to hold out injury time.

Edit: Nevermind, Sigurdson buries one from 20yds straight out.

That was a beautiful finish but that whole action looked prime for a hockey style var rule out for offside. Thank god it wasn’t

Spurs look bereft of ideas. Dele is dropping deeper for the ball, would like to see him take on some defenders and try to jump start some action.

Son and Kane are pushing for it here, but Watford’s attackers are showing more skill - taking on defenders, quick interchanges in the midfield...9 Spurs players seem to be drifting through the match.

ManU coming out hard and pressing high. Will be quite the battle on the wings with Young & Wan-Bissaka vs TAA & Robo.

I’m not sure of United’s strategy here. 5 defenders invites the press more and leaves fewer forward passing options. Seems like they’re destined to spend the match struggling to find forward options

Surprised that VVD kept pace with Rashford...and that Rashford could shrug off VVD.

I know things are tough at Man U right now, but Wan-Bissaka was a great signing by them. He is such an impressive player.

If there was a chance to draft the full-backs on the field today, I’d be hard pressed on who to take #1. Maybe: 1. Robertson, 2. Wan-Bissaka, 3.Alexander-Arnold?

Impressive first half from Rashford; appropriate level of nastiness for a game of this intensity.

A stiff breeze would have blown over Origi.

Lol he dove.
I think Lindelof made contact but Origi tremendously exaggerated the level of contact and if we are going to be ruling goals off for a little bit of contact in the build-up for a goal, what are we even doing.

Unfortunately I’m at a kid’s birthday party and missed the incident but i have no means to make a decision on an incident between Liverpool and United so I’m sure I’ll just hate Var.

Agree on AWB he’s looked great all season to me

Obvious handball.

That said, Lindelof was all over him in the buildup- you could even argue he caused it. He’s lucky to get away with a nightmare sequence.

Credit to Ole so far - United have created more turnovers in the middle of the pitch than Liverpool and exploited the flanks on the counter. A well executed plan.

Fabinho was invisible. He either needs to step up to get more involved in attack or drop back to allow Matip & VVD to play wider, the fullbacks to attack more.

Both VAR decisions were correct. Just because lindelof touches Origi doesn’t mean it’s a foul. Some physicality is allowed in the game.

The second one was unlucky because Lindelof has looked all out of sorts.

One thing I don’t quite understand with VAR ., it’s supposed to be a Clear and Obvious error .. so , the Origi non call was debatable .. and that was pretty much standard this year as VAR rarely overturns a call on the field. So why is a different standard applied with handball in the box? The ball glanced off Mane’s chest and nicked his hand. Atkinson missed it .. so why overrule?

Because the new rule is any time a ball makes contact with the hand it’s now called a hand ball. They changed it this year. It’s a shitty, shitty rule.

Toe on shin, feet away from the ball, is generally a foul though. Agreed that Origi exaggerated impact of the contact

So handball decisions are measured to the millimetre and the ref’s view is irrelevant ? I know that what they’ve been calling .. but it doesn’t make any sense.

That’s ridiculous.

As a viewer with some rooting interest but nothing approaching passion, I do not enjoy VAR. What I liked most about this sport was that they just played and if a ref made a mistake you lived with it and played on.

If they use VAR to start handing out yellow cards for diving I might change my mind.
