Toe on shin, feet away from the ball, is generally a foul though. Agreed that Origi exaggerated impact of the contact

It’s a foul but shit like that is missed all the time (even as a casual I see this) and guys’ theatrical embellishment makes it hard for me to feel like Liverpool was robbed.

Stopping the game because he’s winded now with Liverpool in possession.

This is sour grapes as shit but I can’t fucking stand Martin Atkinson

James is quick, but maybe needs to be a it stronger and more cautious at this level.

That’s better from Pool - playing quick, keeping the ball on the ground...only problem is that it’s Ox and not Salah taking the strike.

A combination of good tactics from United and something missing from Liverpool is making it seem like 10v11. The movement and passing that allow Liverpool to create mismatches and numbers at the point of the attack are simply missing.

I’ve been watching this story for a calendar year now. DeGea is going to catch a cross at the top of the 18 and roll backward into his own net

This is better from Liverpool. Lallana and Keita loving the ball well.

Happy for Lallana, and you can see his teammate are genuinely excited for him.

Rashford was MOTM. He was a threat every time he touched the ball. James and Perriera were fantastic as well McTominay did all the work in the midfield. If he had an equal partner in the middle, United would be so much the better.

A healthy Martial is the best thing that could happen for Rashford. It pushes him to the left where his physicallity is an asset vs the wing backs. He’s also a much better wide player than a 9.

Best game United played all season.

Would have been difficult to argue a LFC loss wasn’t the fair result. Ole nailed his tactics and may have exposed a significant weakness.
No, I think Ole went right at the well known weakness in the Liverpool set up - the space behind the fullbacks. Most teams lack either the talent or the balls to try to exploit that, but Ole deployed his players very well and Liverpool looked disjointed tying to pass through the middle. Also, all the early high crosses from TAA were useless against the tall back line. I can’t remember TAA getting down to the touch line once in the second half - which was part of Ole’s plan. Well done.

The biggest thing that bothers me about the whole VAR thing (after following the 24 hour rule) is that the Referee's are kicking the can - let it play on and VAR will bail me out. Fact is, on evidence to date, that VAR won't bail them out, they will validate their on field answer at the moment. Communicate - tell the Referee to go have a look at the monitor so they can reassess their call if need be. The current VAR system butchered the calls, Man City, Watford, and Liverpool, save the hand ball call that is a ridculous rule in the first place and they couldn't possibly screw that up, this weekend and isn't adding value to the game.

Emery playing another turgid lineup: Leno; Kolasinac, Luiz, Sokratis, Chambers; Guendouzi, Xhaka, Willock; Saka, Aubameyang, Pepe.

Here is a question. Let's say the team above plays against the following: Martinez; Tierney, Holding, Mustafi, Bellerin; Ceballos, Torreira; Martinelli, Ozil, Nelson; Lacazette.

Which team wins more often? I certainly think the second team is going to be more fun to watch.

I don't understand Tierney not starting when he was starting in other matches three weeks ago. Must believe Bellerin isn't ready if he's not on the roster at all. Ceballos not starting also is insane.

That Pepe (lack of) finish was about as bad as it gets. Probably the first good cross of Kolasinac's career.

Arsenal at the Sheffield 18 and passing back and back and back all the way to their own keeper. You've got superior players. Go forward!

Yellow on Saka for dive in the box. There was a little bit of contact. Sheffield player went down similarly the previous possession. There either needs to be a PK or a yellow for that play.

Glad Ljungberg was loud enough to take a card from the bench. If Arsenal sack Unai mid season, I'd be happy and comfortable to see Freddie manage the remainder of the season.

I thought he clipped his back leg, but it definitely wasn't a dive.
That's at least two pks in this game alone that MD hasn't called...and he regularly doesn't call PKs for them.. he's an awful referee.

I also agree with this.. Unai has the team completely lost out there.. (Although Pepe has been lost out there on his own as well.). Xhaka and David Luiz don't help at all either.

I'm resigned to not getting Xhaka out of the starting XI under Emery. I'm hopeful than injuries will unseat Luiz.
