Concerns raised by the Clippers about Malcolm Brogdon's injury status, league sources say, led to the collapse of the three-team trade expected to send Kristaps Porzingis to Boston before midnight tonight. A direct Wizards/Celtics deal has not been ruled out.
Would be unlikely the long term prognosis of Brogdon's elbow is a major issue. Strange.

Sounds like bullshit, I mean come on. Unless he needs Tommy John?
I mean, who knows... tough to trade for a guy without a thorough medical when he's currently injured and you don't know how he's healing. Not like they can pop him into an MRI in the next hour

If the Clips were the sticking point the Wiz could always just trade for Brogdon straight up now with the idea of flipping him for picks or an additional TPE later without the pressure of the midnight deadline for KP’s opt-in…

Sure, but the draw for WAS was a 1st round pick tomorrow. Not clear a future 1st would be on the table for Brogdon, much easier for a team to trade one of the last picks in a known draft than a future pick that will likely be better than that.

I’m sure the Celtics have their own they can share. Absent something crazy like a torn UCL, it seems highly unlikely Brogdon’s injury is going to be a long term issue.

Yeah, was more of a wishful thought than predicting a likely outcome.

I mean they probably have one from a couple weeks ago, but I guess the question is what we mean by long term. If it's an extensor tendon and they think he needs surgery that's 4-6 months, and for a vet rental that's a concern.

I guess, but their window is next year, basically their whole team can be free agents after this upcoming season.
I think they have a two year window. PG and Kawhi are not turning down their 49 million options next year. And they have Powell, Mann, and Zubac under contract

You think they won't? I assume they will, now my guess is both re-up for multiple years in LA, but who knows. Still they're built for this year, their stars are aging and injury riddled, they have a bunch of old vets on 1 year deals getting big minutes, if they don't think Brogdon will be back and healthy for all of it trade makes less sense.

Strange that the Celtics are so intent on getting it done immediately then.
Well they can move the opt in, but I believe KP would need to agree to that. He could be the one putting pressure to make it happen.

Woj: “Three way deal fell apart after Porzingis expressed desire to form Superteam in DC with Kyrie Irving and Chris Paul.”

Who knows the details of the holdup, but sure they can.

Any elbow MRI would take 20-25 minutes and they would bump any regular scheduled patients if needed.

The MRI interpretation would not take more than a few minutes after the scan is completed.

Any doubt Woj is muttering ‘take that you slick little bastard’ as he rocks gently while holding his phone and the gag ball and whip Ime’s agent sent him?

I can’t tell if this is parody or true. If it’s not parody then I’m immediately out on Porzingis who is apparently a masochist

Would probably have to fly him back from Turks and Caicos first.

hope we didn't have to give up much else beyond what was originally in the deal.

Feel like WAS should be comfortable in their ability to move Brogdon, maybe we added Pritchard or something to grease the wheels?

Agreed, I expect they added some value. Maybe a pick? We'll see.

I think we need Pritchard, at least for the regular season.

Honestly I think he's gone either way. Word was they were shopping him hard to move up into the 1st.
I think the plan is to fill the bench guard role with the MLE or the return on a Grant S&T (or I guess the draft). Pritchard isn't really what we needed anyway, he's a small SG more than a real PG.
