These prices are terrifying. I'm very curious to see what Grabovski and Niskanen get. Both should be looking at $30m+ at this point. Niskanen to Detroit or Washington perhaps? Hoping the latter, as long as the contract isn't ridiculous.

The Gilbert deal for MTL is a $2.8m AAV.

I have no idea how Gilbert's agent swung that. Perhaps Bergevin thought it was "JEEL-bear"

Montreal also secures Sekač for 2 years and re-signs Weaver on a 1 year deal [$1.75m]

Phoenix gets Joe Vitale on a 3 year deal

The Brad Stuart trade was to Colorado for a 2nd and a 6th. Not sure in what universe Brad Stuart's still worth a 2nd.

Dallas gets Hemsky as well

Wow guys are getting paid. Krejci might get $8 million next year at this rate. Might want to look to trade him.

Gionta's corpse got $4.25 AAV from Buffalo.

I guess they have money to burn to get to the cap floor though. That's still a lot.

Looking at these deals...thank God it's Hexy and not Homer. Holmgren would've been all over that Orpik deal.

Buffalo, Edmonton, and Florida are spending money stupidly. And yet, Orpik's deal is my least favorite of the day. Yuck.

Mathieu Perreault at 3 years/$9m is a solid signing for WPG.

And Pouliot got 5 years? That's this year's Contract of Regret. Just awful.
I don't think it's a great contract, but I don't think it's terrible. The analytics love him and I think there's something to why. With that in mind, you overpay for length.

Can you fill me in on the analytics? I know he had a good year with the Rangers but the course of his career has been disappointing overall. I feel like it's unlikely he'll have the same type of success with the Oilers.

Between here and everywhere.
Wow. Just catching up on all these deals. Iginla is as good as gone.

However - this also makes Boychuk and Kelly at their current salary look like a steal. Hopefully this opens up the trade market for the B's a bit.

Boychuk has always been a good contract. Kelly would be a market value deal if he didn't have the injury issues and NTC.

Wow, so much insane money being thrown around. The Bruins not having much cap space doesn't seem so bad today

I wish they had cap space to make some moves and take advantage of some opportunities.

But playing in the FA market in the NHL is for FOOLS.   We whine about Kelly, but there is no doubt if he was out int he market he would get a contract for more years and more money than the bruins owe him
