In the simulacrum
I want them to score a TD on every drive and for Indy to go 3 and out every drive and for the only noise left in the stadium in the 4th quarter to be the illegally pumped in crowd noise as the whole place will have emptied by half time.

I'll be in Vegas Sunday, anything under 10 is very tempting for a good size bet.

This is yet another example where we are lucky to have BB at the helm.  He'll treat this as any other game, which is why a 45-17 final will be all the more satisfying.

However, would love to see any/all of the following:

Wes Welker signed to conduct all interviews this week.

One post celebration TD where ball is placed on ground and pantomime air pump is used to inflate it.

BB pays homage to Woody Hayes and goes for 2 points late in the game.

Barring catastrophic injury, the Pats should win next week by 24+.  Think something like 41-17 or 48-24.  Something in that range.  Maybe Indy can't put up that many points, I dunno.  But the Pats should score a TON.

Been waiting for this for a long time. I hope they hang 60 on them. I couldn't wait any longer to begin discussion

I also hope they treat it like any other game, and that they still hang 60 on them.

Hyperbole aside, I just want them to get a win and stay healthy. Also, to embarrass them.

I'm pissed I missed 6.5 although if Luck is back I fear this isn't the cakewalk we hope it is

Even though it was a cakewalk the last 2 times when they had Luck?

Either way, I'm heading to Indy tomorrow for a few days for work. Packed a Pats shirt though. Hoping we hit someplace tomorrow to watch MNF that has lots of Colts fans.

If Luck is out they're just going to end up turtling with Hasselbeck and trying not to lose by 40. I want Luck out there so they can beat his ass and pick him off and ruin his life.

My guess is you'll see a somewhat low-risk offensive game plan early from the Pats, just trying to avoid early turnovers, control the ball and execute. I expect more of a methodical dismantling, but if they can get the Colts to turn it over and panic then the beating will really commence.

It certainly makes sense to pound the ball on the ground, and the Pats probably will - but play action is going to be a lot of fun, I think

In 1940 the Bears beat the Skins 73-0. I expect Belichick to try to surpass that mark.

edit: 7.5 points? I'd bet my house on that line.

Yeah guys, Ive seen the last four games between the two teams and the Colts work so far. Pats should win and im laying the 7, but the idea they can go on the road and name the score against a decent team is a little optimistic.

Waiting to hear more on Solder, I don't think they can just go heavy and run over the Colts quite as well as they have the last two years although i expect the offense overall to perform very effectively as usual.

I'd guess 38-24 if Luck plays. Hope it's 75-0 with a fourth quarter onside kick.

Are the colts a decent team in this scenario?

They've beat the jags, Texans and Titans... And lost to the jets and bills.

What have the pats not done to be able to show they can control a mediocre at best team like this on the road?

Despite raising money through a GoFundMe page and loads of enthusiasm, there will be no special messages for the New England Patriots when they visit the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. Hundreds of Colts fans had donated to the page in order to fly a message over Lucas Oil Stadium with the message #DeflateThisBrady, but the team has asked the owners at AirSign not to follow through with the event because they wanted to move past the Deflategate discussion, according to RTV6s Jason Fechner. The team added that while they appreciated the idea and their loyal fans who donated, they did not want the blimp to be flown. We at AirSign.com have always felt that aerial advertisement is a fun experience and it is used to bring a positive and as you saw, humorous angle to events or occasions, Jason Thompson, a representative for AirSign, said. We want to continue to work alongside the Colts in future campaigns. Another loss for Colts fans. How deflating.

A Scud Away from Hell
Per Reiss:

The Patriots have scored 149 points through four games this season, setting the franchise record for most points over that span in a season. The prior record was 148, set in 2007.

Comparing the 2015 team with 2007:
So far, the 2015 version is better at all three skill positions, just in terms of pure production (yards/game):
  • Welker: 73.4 vs Edelman: 93.0
  • Moss: 93.3 vs Gronk: 102.7
  • Faulk: 23.9 vs Lewis: 59.7
2015 offense will eventually slow down like the 2007 version, but I think TB has more of an arsenal this time. The supporting cast includes (players with 10+ yd/g):
  • 2015: Dopson (33.7), Keyshawn Martin (33.0), Amendola (30.7), Chandler (16.3), White (13.0)
  • 2007: Stallworth (43.6), Watson (32.4), Gaffney (28.1)
That 2007 was fairly "top-heavy". After Gaffney, production falls off a cliff with Maroney (8.9) and Sammy Morris (5.8). Real 2015 "starter" that is below 10 yd/g is LGBT at 7.0.

If the Colts stack the box and try to stop the run, we all know what's going to happen. As long as we don't repeat Dallas 1st half's OL breakdown, spread out the Colts D and have Lewis & LGBT gash the decidedly average Indy run defense.

Yes. It should be that way. And our expectations should be reined in. Avoiding humiliation at home in a national game when everyone will be predicting it is a powerful incentive.

Right, just look at the first 28 minutes of yesterday's game. If the Pats can come out of Indy with a similar result to yesterday I will be thrilled. The most important thing is to win and make sure that Indy can't host the Pats in January, and to avoid major injuries. A multi score win is just gravy.

That being said, I do agree with others who see a 2-3 score win.

I'd take the Pats and anything up to 21.5 points.  In fact I might sign up on Bovada or whatever the fuck it is and make the bet.  Bring it on, absolutely can't wait for this game.

@BenVolin: #Colts signed one-time Patriot KR Marcus Thigpen and released QB Josh Johnson. Probably a sign that Luck is feeling better

I expect Pats to come out in the big set and to run the ball until Indy stops it.  They are not trying to be tricky, they are trying to win the game and until Indy shows they can stop it, Pats should just continue with the run-heavy approach.

I expect zero public comments about DeflateGate and a bunch of denials from the high-profile players that it is in their minds at all.

I also expect those same captains will make clear to their position groups and informally within the locker room that this Colts team, organization, and fanbase belives the Pats cheated last year and believes that the Pats aren't any good and that only complete domination is an acceptable response.

The only thing we'll get from BB all week is many of the starters being out there and doing legitimate plays and such well into the fourth quarter.  I hope we get a drop-kick extra point/late two point conversion/late trick play kind of signature FU play, but I don't know that he'll be willing to risk TB's knees on trying one.

I will be disappointed if the Pats put up less than 50 or if the game is remotely in doubt after the first possession or two of the third quarter.  I hear the concerns about the Colts with a healthy (ish) Luck and so forth, and I just believe this is one of those gut-check games that the Patriots virtually always deliver on.  And based on performance the first four weeks, this Patriots team is a lot better than this Colts team, motivation and other stuff aside.

The Colts run defense has been much better this year than their pass defense.  General consensus is that the Pats will come out run heavy, but I'm not seeing it.  Why get away from the Pats own strength and the defenses own weakness just because something worked last year?

TB is going to roast that team with the heat of a thousand Suns.

I like the idea — espoused in this article — that it's the Patriots' fault that rules were changed to emphasize defensive holding and ruin football in the process. They forced Bill Poilan's hand— he simply had no option but to petition the rules committee.

I hope the Patriot domination is so total that they spend the whole 4th quarter, all 15:00, in victory formation.  Take 3 knees.  Punt.  "We are so much better than you, and so embarrassed by your incompetence, that we are not even going to try anymore."

Luck was a full participant at practice today.

Also, I'm in Indy now. Saw a big picture of Luck at the airport.
