Just started the other day, but got my first 9/9 today though. 115 rarity score.

Best score was a complete guess on the Padres/Cardinals square and pulling Jesse Orosco. He's my complete guess guy and turns out he made 6 appearances for the Cardinals and spent 2003 with the Padres. I'm not so good with the NL. Was surprised Beltre only had 1% as the 40 hr/gold glove square.

I missed one because I entered my middle middle pick into the middle left by mistake :/.

So apparently Mike Trout has never won a Gold Glove? First 8/9 in a bit.
He was my first thought for that spot but I hesitated and went with someone I knew won some Gold Gloves instead. The only chance I felt I was taking was that he didn't win one with the Angels. Fortunately for me he did.

Started about a week ago and got my 2nd immaculate grid and got my best score - 66.

The last one I needed was a Padre who hit 40 HR's got it with Ken CaminitiAlmost put in Nate Colbert but didn't really think he had done it - he was close though.

9/9 Rarity 97.

Edit: And now all 4 major US sports have grids (hockey new today)

I will always remember Rafael Palmeiro winning a GG at 1B playing 28 games at 1B that year.

This one was fun on several levels.

I got to again use my former HS teammate - Tom Herr; and then was able to pair that with his double play partner, Ozzie Smith.

It was nice being able to put a father and son in there with Bobby and Barry Bonds

Adding Yaz was a cherry on top.

I do the hockey, baseball and football ones.

The football one is definitely the toughest for me. QB's and stars are easy for the counting stats ones but the cross team ones are brutal. Trying to pull OL and defensive backs and that change teams more frequently is really hard. I've got 2 so far today and just staring at the remaining 7 squares.

8/9 - Before I settled on Ozzie for Cards/Padres, I tried Allen Craig. I thought that I remembered him playing for San Diego after leaving Boston, but he only played in their minor league system - his B-Ref profile pic is even him in a Padres hat.

Held my breath on a few of them, but got my first 9/9 in a while. 134 rarity, but wasn't going for rarity, even though, to my surprise, all my Gold Glove choices were under 1%. Also got to include the person with the infamous, least deserved gold glove in history at the bottom right. To be honest, that's exactly why he came to mind :)

The Angels gold glove did me in. I’m sure it’s someone obvious I’m blanking out on but after 3 swings and misses I just gave up.

Jim Edmonds would have worked in any of the 3 spots in the Gold Glove column. Since I could think of more Cardinals Gold Glovers than Angels, I used him in that spot.

I was aware of Mark Langston from my days assigned to a ship in San Diego when he was with them, and I used to take the rail up that dropped you off about 4 blocks from the stadium. Saw him play a bunch of games from '90-'93.

As Sade would say, he was a smooth operator.

8/9 Rarity score 145. Similar to yours (Yaz, Ozzie and the guy he was traded for) except I screwed up the bottom center. Pretty surprised that Dave Winfield never hit more than 34 dingers in a season for the Padres, and never hit more than 37 anywhere else

Oh, and I went with a BIG SoSH favorite for center square :D

JT Snow is definitely my candidate for the next "forgot he was a Red Sox" thread. 9/9 today, RS=50. They also rolled out a hockey grid for the first time - today was all the original six teams.

I screwed up immediately thinking Juan Soto had hit 40. How I don’t throw my phone through a fucking wall every day I don’t know.
I confused Jeffrey Leonard with Kevin Mitchell for the guy who hit 47 bombs for the Giants in ‘89 because I am a complete idiot. As I was selecting a tiny corner of my brain protested because it showed my selection’s career ending in 1990, which seemed a little abrupt considering what I was ascribing to him in 1989. But then the larger, moron part of my brain insisted “Penitentiary Face. It’s definitely Penitentiary Face!” . Stupid brain.

Just three right answers for bottom right today, I instantly went to the middle option.

68178

Other two on 200+ K Rockies: Ubaldo Jimenez (~71%), Pedro Astacio (~4%, never heard of him before)

Mike Minor stuck out in my mind for that ridiculous game against the Sox at the end of 2019 where htey left him in in the 9th inning to barely achieve it, and Cora was pissed.

Fucking Francis never struck out 200? No wonder he got taken deep in the World Series.
30+ seasons and they've had 3 guys with 200K. Either they've consistently had horrible management or it's near impossible to build a winner there.

It’s crazy to me that 17% of us answered Sean Casey for the DET-CIN square. Are there just not that many answers or something?!

I think I have to give up on COL-CIN.Both teams have been mired in obscurity for a decade, and the obvious guys from the 90s and 2000s don’t fit.

After you finish the grid, you can scroll down and find a link to all the possibilities for each square.

This one was nerve wracking. Credit to my baseball card collection (had about six Darnell Coles cards from the 86-88 era to nail that one). And video games allowed me to pull Steve Beuchele out of my butt. I remember he was a Ranger for quite a while but he spent a year or so in Pittsburgh which was where he was when the rosters were set for 1992's Sports Talk Baseball for the Genesis. I played the shit out of that for, like, three years. Won a season with every team so I remember those rosters well even now.

I had the same answer. There always seem to be a couple that I answer with a guy who instantly comes to mind even though I probably hadn't thought about him in 25 years.

Did today's grid as soon as it loaded at 9:00, it took about 20 minutes. 9/9 for the second day in a row, rarity of 99. As I was making my selections I was surprised at how high my percentages were. I'm talking somewhere around 350 total points. When I completed the grid everything was readjusted to 114 rarity score. I just hit my summary again and I'm down to 99. Anyone ever experience something like this?

Finally one I could attempt. This one was fun. Got to use Sam Horn and I knew I would get a low percentage for Eck. And the Wild Card for the center square!

CWS/BAL Cy Young killed the %, but not many choices there and those are the only 2 I could think of at all.

As for today’s, I liked my answers, except for…

the dumb White Sox and their three Cy winners, only one of whom pitched while I was paying attention to baseball:

9/9 rarity score 48. My first immaculate grid in several days; the less said about my 5/9 disaster yesterday the better.
There were not many choices for top right; I thought about going with Wilbur Wood or Mark Buerhle but I'm glad I remembered LaMarr Hoyt

And it still feels like too soon for my center-left.
