Hopefully the rain does not cause the HRD to be rained out

(Fun fact: the last HRD to be rained out was in 1988 in. You guessed it. CIN)

If it's rained out they just won't have a HRD this year apparently

Well, the conditions there are the same as what we had here yesterday/last night, as we got absolutely slammed with severe t-storms last night and 2 inches of rain in 2 hours.  And that system is part of the one that is now headed for Cincinnati.

I'd be shocked if they get it in.

I hope they actually show where the balls are being hit this year.  Last years coverage may have been one of the worst produced "events" I've ever seen.

The timed format sounded like a great change, but now I'm seeing that there are under 1 minute stoppages, and additional time added based on HR lengths, and I can already hear Berman fumbling through an explanation of rules that he's unsure about.
The tournament and 5 minute timed round seemed intriguing....I'm not sure why they need to intentionally convolute things (if what I was reading is in fact true)

Just Weather.com, but it shows just cloudy up until 7 pm or so. No way they move it up I guess, even though it's either that or cancel it. Or, with all the open days, hold it in Wednesday?

You mean it might get rained out and I won't get to hear the execrable Chris Berman yelling "Back, back, back, GONE!" like someone hit a ball thrown by someone that wasn't trying to let him hit it that far?

I'm in downtown Cinci. Had an hour of biblical rain earlier this afternoon but has passed through and there's nothing behind it. Should be able to start on time.

Yes, Torre, Mad Dog and Brian Kenny on MLBN right now and are also saying the forecast looks much better.

Greinke starting for the NL, Keuchel for the AL (maybe reported in the ASG thread too).

“@BBTN: MLB has made some last-minute tweaks for tonight’s #HRDerby.

There will now be a 4-minute running clock (not 5 minutes) for each batter.”

“@BBTN: In addition, the clock will no longer stop in the final minute on a HR.

An extra 30 seconds can be earned with 2 HR of 425 feet or more.”

The band or the DJ during intros? Walk The Moon is pretty hot on pop stations right now. Not saying they're the Beatles, simply that they are the current catchy summer hit on the radio.

One of the things that might not be so great about the new rules, is that when a guy hits a mammoth the fans and players can't really milk the moment.

The timeout rule is awful.  It needs to be a tradeoff of high volume swings vs getting tired.

Maybe not, but they could've tried harder. BB might've preferred a package. Better than Sandoval anyways

It was BB. He probably had a fixation for the blue jay prospects
