Three quarterbacks not a hard decision. Asked if it was a challenging decision to keep three quarterbacks, Belichick paused briefly before saying, "I wouldn't say so. Fortunately, we have three good players at that position, three players we have a lot of confidence in. I'm sure there are some teams in the league that don't have that feeling about that position. They may not have one, I don't know. I've been in that position before. It's not a good place to be. We're fortunate we have three good players there. That's a good situation."

BB is the ultimate troll, isn't he?
He'd probably say stuff like "We don't have a plan yet" just hours before sending air strikes.E5 Yaz said:
I'm sure it's been said before, but wouldn't you love to hear the press conferences if BB were president?

Confirmed the #texans have traded for Ryan Mallett. They get a 6th round pick.
I would think trading Mallet happened on our timeline. Giving the rook enough games to prove we can trust him at #2. I would guess Texas has been watching Garapolo as closely as we have.DrewDawg said:Good job by Houston to wait until preseason was over.
He's been following this closely and suggested on NFLN yesterday that a deal may be coming. His focus then was that anyone behind Houston could not wait for him to be cut, because the Texans would claim him.knucklecup said:RT @RapSheet: Ryan Mallett has been traded to the #Texans, source says

Haha. Or a 6th.MarcSullivaFan said:I'm going to guess 4th that could be a 3rd depending on how many games he starts.

I doubt that Pats had to give the Texans a 6th rounder to entice them to take Mallet.amarshal2 said:Who is "they"???
Tyrone Biggums said:A 6th rounder? Bill got worked. It's better than cutting him but the fact that they couldn't at least get a 4th is underwhelming.

But then we'll find out that the "they" in the poorly worded tweet isn't NE and it's Mallett and a 6th for _______.
Heh.
BB has lost a step and the game has passed him by! Also, he's arrogant!Mystic Merlin said:
I, too wish the market value for a backup QB in the final year of his contract and with virtually no live snaps under his belt was better.

They spent a 3rd on Mallett, got a backup for 3 years and got a 6th
What's wrong with that?
Right. Because that would be a pretty dumb assumption. However wondering if it was a 4th for a 6th and Mallett isn't.TheoShmeo said:I doubt that Pats had to give the Texans a 6th rounder to entice them to take Mallet.
The Patriots are the "they."
Utterly predictable haul. I dared to pipe dream about Johnson being part of this but that was a giant longshot.
If we're throwing in the 6th rounder, wouldn't Watt have to be involved as well?PedroKsBambino said:
AJ, clearly!
Papelbon's Poutine said:Mallett had a lot of good reviews coming out of college and dropped because of character issues, but he has shown absolutely no reason to suggest he's a starting QB in the NFL. That's obviously a slightly tainted view since he hasn't played any real snaps, but reflect it against Cassel, who went out and won 11 games after looking like shit in preseason over the years and brought back a 2nd with Vrabel attached. I would have hoped for at least a 4th if there really was competition, but a 6th was probably a realistic haul for him.
Lots of 3rd rounders don't work out. Thankfully he wasn't tested, but the team was comfortable with him as back up for several years during which they did not have to worry about addressing the position. That's value, but people hate paying for insurance.rodderick said:
Well, I'm certain they had a better return in mind when they picked Mallett in the 3rd round, but considering I haven't seen a lick of improvement from him in 4 years with the Patriots, getting a 6th in the last year of his deal is pretty solid.
