Oregon ran it up over 60 in a few games against undermanned teams over the last few years so turnabout is fair play.twibnotes said:Kind of a dick move there by urban, no? I mean not as bad as fostering a stable of hardened criminals but still kind of a dick move
Winning by a ton of points is not synonymous with going for a td when the game is completely unwinnable by the oppositionAl Zarilla said:Oregon ran it up over 60 in a few games against undermanned teams over the last few years so turnabout is fair play.
Eh "running up the score" isnt really a thing anymore, teams score so much and so fast, teams come back from 20, 30 point leads. Eveyone understands teams are trying to score all the time.Al Zarilla said:Oregon ran it up over 60 in a few games against undermanned teams over the last few years so turnabout is fair play.
This is a great point...Deathofthebambino said:I'm just sitting here thinking just how much of a blowout it would have been, but for the four turnovers. OSU completely destroyed Oregon tonight.
And as far as I'm concerned, it just goes to show that championships should be decided on the field, in a playoff. Had this been any other year in the history of college football, Ohio State would not have even had a chance to play in this game, and not only did they beat the teams ranked 1 and 2, they stomped on them. Four teams ain't enough to know who deserves that shot, and it only took one season to prove it, which is awesome.

Great weekend!
I don't know what you mean. Oregon never calls off the dogs so I'm happy when another team rubs their face in it.twibnotes said:Winning by a ton of points is not synonymous with going for a td when the game is completely unwinnable by the opposition
I didn't watch all their games, but I doubt they don't take a knee when the game is mathematically overAl Zarilla said:I don't know what you mean. Oregon never calls off the dogs so I'm happy when another team rubs their face in it.

Wasn't that the 2002 season?FL4WL3SS said:Last time I watched OSU win a national championship, I watched the Patriots win one a couple weeks later.
Let history repeat itself.
Except Bill Belichick.Deathofthebambino said:Nobody takes a knee when the other team has enough timeouts to stop the clock. Nobody.

Holy shit, you're right. Those four years mesh together for me. 01-04Morgan said:Wasn't that the 2002 season?
Congrats on this win though. Thoroughly deserved.

My wife went to tOSU and her family is from Cleveland. My wife's parents bleed silver and red. Bleed. So I hopped on the bandwagon b/c I went to Lehigh. Lehigh has never, um, played in the National Championship.
BigSoxFan said:If Cardale Jones goes pro, where is he taken?
With perhaps one exception: Newton may be mobile, but he tries to avoid direct hits. Jones seemed willing to go head on at full tilt on separate occasions into a nose guard and middle linebacker - and back them up if not bowl them over altogether. Ouch.Morgan's Magic Snowplow said:
I don't know the story behind his disciplinary issues, which could change the picture a lot, but otherwise I think he's a late 2nd to 4th round pick. Obviously he's a total project but his physical talent is off the charts. He looks like a Cam Newton clone. Unless Meyer guarantees him the starting job next year, which seems unlikely, he really should declare.
Deathofthebambino said:That said, I hope some folks saw what I've been saying for a while now. Some team is going to get boned by drafting Mariota way too high. I think it's entirely possible that he could be the next Russell Wilson, but I'm still not sold on his arm. Jones' arm was so, so much stronger last night that it was like watching a comparison between Eli Manning and Peyton Manning this year. I didn't see him make one throw last night that would be considered an above average throw by NFL standards. He hasn't had to zip one into a lot of tight spots in his career in that offense, and while his legs are otherworldly, mobile QB's that are uber successful in the NFL are the exception to the rule. I don't think he's going to suck like Johnny Football by any means, but I think a guy like Kaepernik is probably his ceiling, which is a pretty damn good ceiling, but shouldn't warrant a top 5 pick, IMO.
Ha, I forgot he don't do no school. Maybe he'd be taking a paycut turning pro?DukeSox said:You mean to football
Deathofthebambino said:That's definitely true. I think a reunification with Chip Kelly would make all the difference in the world for him, and if he ended up in a system like that, I could definitely see him being very successful, and maybe even better than Kaepernick. Unfortunately for him I think, from everything I hear, he's going #1 to Tampa Bay, and frankly, I just don't see it working out all that great. Definitely looking forward to seeing it play out. If they can get a running game, they've got some weapons in the passing game with Mike Evans, Sefarian-Jenkins and I assume Vincent Jackson will still be there. Not sure how good their offensive line will be (hey Logan), and they could very well get him killed, but it'll definitely be a huge storyline next season.
