It has been reported that they did this during the NFL visit last week. This is probably how they know about the locker room attendant pit stop in the first place.

Pretty much. If Goodell cannot stop the leaks, he has no business being Commissioner. Note that the NFL Office issued a "no comment" on this leak.Once again Glazer gets a leak out of NFL HQ designed to inflict maximum damage on the Pats. These folks need to be flushed out of there, Mr. Kraft.
It's hard to do these experiments if your calculations require massless objects and frictionless surfaces.rodderick said:I wonder why the only people that disagree with Belichick's findings are the ones who haven't done the experiments themselves.
BothEricFeczko said:So let me get this straight.
Glazer first blames BB, then he blames brady, then he blames the NFL, and now he blames the attendant.
If he has sources telling him facts that represent four mutually exclusive possibilities, then the responsible thing to do is to check his sources before reporting.
If these sources are fabrications, then he's making shit up.
So either he's unethical or completely incompetent as a reporter, take your pick.
One idiot Pats hater I was "discussing" this with claimed that the one un-altered ball was just in case Garoppolo had to come into the game. I am so done with this ship. I am starting to HATE the NFL.yecul said:This definitely explains why only 11 of the 12 balls were low. He only had enough time to deflate those balls without raising suspicion.

Assuming the ball boy let out the air. Is there anyway short of a confession to prove that ball boy was doing this for the pats and not some addict owner with an axe to grind? I would definitely screw over my favorite team for a few thousand dollars.Ed Hillel said:I love the fall guy comments. Obviously, the Patriots set up this ball boy to walk on camera into a room without a camera before they knew there was an investigation.
Tito's Pullover said:The largest pressure drop number we have seen reported is 2 PSI. A drop from 13 PSI to 11 PSI is actually an 8% drop in pressure, since the absolute pressures are 27.7 -> 25.7 PSI.
So basically NdGT confused gauge pressure and absolute pressure, like a few of SoSH posters who aren't fucking astrophysicists did upthread. That's rookie level shit.
Somewhere, Carl Sagan weeps.

could he really be using gauge pressure?
2psi/13psi = .... 15%?

At this point, BB can pretty convincingly paint an us against the world picture here.
Just...wow...so nomore.org is advocating against discussing domestic violence? I really don't follow this ad campaign.CoffeeNerdness said:
You know we are dealing with Goodell's NFL here, right? I'd do cartwheels for irresponsible... this seems much more deliberate than that.djbayko said:I too am growing very concerned. To allow these continuous leaks to happen is irresponsible if you believe the Patriots are innocent.
someone needs to tweet him and ask him to explain his methodologyDaughtersofDougMirabelli said:
Not even this is true. I tried an equation with the gauge pressure, and another with the temps in Fahrenheit (instead of Kelvin). I never once got a temperature anywhere close to 125F (used 45-55 degree outside air). I have no idea what he's talking about, or what kind of equation he used. Would love to see him show his work.

It's a nice story to get the game officials off the hook. This is monkey poo flinging going on.

I too am growing very concerned. To allow these continuous leaks to happen is irresponsible if you believe the Patriots are innocent. We've seen such leaks before as a way to sway public opinion towards the eventual decision. It's quite possible that the league has it in for the Patriots, conclusive evidence or no, and they simply stretching it out because they know that they can't fuck up the Super Bowl.

Again, if the league truly has it in for the Patriots, how would Roger present the trophy when the Patriots win on Sunday?djbayko said:I too am growing very concerned. It's amazing that the Patriots will have played in probably the 2 most publicized Super Bowls, being viewed as the enemy in each, with the world on the edge of their seats.
This can't be stressed enough - real science is way more than plugging numbers into equations.djbayko said:
Ugh! I love NDT and was hoping he would chime in with real science. Unfortunately, he isn't exactly up to speed with the situation. He obviously didn't listen to Saturday's press conference. Also, I believe 15% is the difference if using gauge pressure.

Quite possible that he was responsible for bringing something else from the locker room to the sideline. he does have two hands.lexrageorge said:Of course, the missing piece of info:
Is it routine for a ball boy to take the balls in this manner from the officials' locker room, and the NFL is just stating that they intend to further interview or investigate this person? If so, this doesn't seem to be a big deal.
Or, is this something completely unorthodox? In which case, it could be a very big deal (media-wise, that is).
He's doing his best to make sure that's not an issue.njnesportsfan said:Again, if the league truly has it in for the Patriots, how would Roger present the trophy when the Patriots win on Sunday?
I've felt that if that was the case, BB would have taken full responsibility for that.NWsoxophile said:BB obviously questioned whichever ballboy brought the balls to the field. If that person tampered, BB knew, and to my mind there's no way he denies the tampering so stridently while knowing that a ballboy's testimony could unravel the whole thing and thrust him and Brady into the Palmeiro/Lance Armstrong category of publicly disgraced liars for the rest of their lives. The irresponsibility of these leaks...wow. Just wow.

HAS THE NFL INTERVIEWED THAT GUY YET?splendid splinter said:On the "only 11 of the 12 balls were under-inflated" thing - Blount handed the ball to a fan in the stands after his 2nd TD. So there were only 11 balls to test at halftime.

njnesportsfan said:It's actually much easier for the ballboy to file a libel lawsuit against various news media if this BS intensifies (remember Richard Jewell, http://law.jrank.org/pages/8241/Libel-Slander-Richard-Jewell-Olympic-Park-Bombing.html). The ballboy is not a public figure. "As a private individual, Jewell would simply need to prove that the newspaper acted with NEGLIGENCE or carelessness in reporting information that was false and defamatory in content."
Yes, but they couldn't break him. All they got out of him was 'Shire! Baggins!'Van Everyman said:HAS THE NFL INTERVIEWED THAT GUY YET?
