Either way, I suspect we'll get another iPhone note soon.

I have a friend who's a cop around here and he boasts that he'll go to a bar and run plates in the parking lot looking for outstanding warrants then wait for them to leave and find a reason to pull them over.Kenny F'ing Powers said:This isn't an excuse for Dennard (in fact, he should have been smart enough to know this), but the officers in his previous trial had a pretty clear axe to grind against him. What the reason was, I have no idea, but they went out of their way to really try to kill this kid. There's a pretty strong possibility (in my mind anyway) that these cops were just waiting for Dennard to do something dumb. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they found out he was at a bar and waited for him to leave, pulling him over for "Straddling the line". Even if he had 4-5 beers at the bar, he knew he'd fail a breathalyzer (or he contacted his lawyer who told him not to take it), so he refused.
This is all my theory and completely unfounded. He was pulled over for a DUI because he was "Straddling the lanes" (not because he was speeding or driving recklessly), in the same town where cops had a serious axe to grind with him. This smells a little fishy to me.
Again, not an excuse for him. He could have gotten a taxi, should have been on his best behavior, should not have gone back to the same town, etc etc etc. I'd just like to hear a little more before I join the "cut his stupid ass" bandwagon.
It's something one does in discord and rhyme.Lose Remerswaal said:And what the fuck does "Stradelle Lane" mean?

If Aaron Hernandez doesn't turn out to be a Tony Montana wannabe, how many people would want Dennard cut right now?
It's silly.
https://twitter.com/jeffphowe/status/355368710288052227Police report. Dennard "emitted an odor of alcohol and displayed signs of impairment." Was given field sobriety test, refused breathalyzer.

So, not completely outside of the realm of possibility
God forbid he enjoyed his time in college and made friends and didn't just play football and watch tape.fairlee76 said:Being that AD assaulted a Lincoln cop last year and that AD is from Georgia, what the hell is he doing back in Nebraska? Seems like he should realize that Lincoln is not the place for him to be this offseason. And that's assuming he was able to keep his nose clean and not drive after 6 too many at Brothers.
Tough offseason for sure. For everyone except Felger and those who truly believed that the Patriots held themselves to a higher moral/ethical standard than every other NFL organization when it comes to the guys on their roster.

DennyDoyle'sBoil said:True, but you kind of have to play the ball as it lies, right? Not cutting Dennard is potentially an option the other 31 clubs would have in the same situation, but not the Patriots at this moment. What if you don't cut him and he does something stupid, and worse, in the near future? Given the judgment he's already shown, is he a guy you want to make a bet on right now? The storm that would follow if Dennard were to stay on the Patriots and then drive drunk again and hurt someone, or do something equally stupid, is simply not worth the risk. The tailspin would be far worse than it currently is, and it would take a while to recover. One would think he would understand this is strike 2.5. But do you trust him right now?

Only gonna read your first sentence. That cop is a fucking asshole. Period. He "finds a reason" to pull people over hoping that they might blow a .08 so he can fuck up their lives and get his power trip on. Yes, driving drunk is bad. But let's be real, people can be .08 and totally 100% fine to drive and this guy is going out of his way to fuck with them. He's an asshole.DennyDoyle'sBoil said:Not sure why this makes the cop an asshole. Not saying reasons should be completely manufactured to pull someone over, but all those not driving drunk have nothing to fear from this guy. Those driving drunk can go fuck themselves. If you have an outstanding warrant, and your car is parked at a bar, and you come out and drive it yourself alone, the probability meter that you're DUI is off the charts. You're obviously not a designated driver, and the fact that you just like the jukebox in that place seems remote. Catch the ones you can catch and make the roads more safe. I have no problem with this.
First of all, think about what he said - "outstanding warrants" is obviously bullshit. If they have outstanding warrants, guess what, you don't need a reason to pull them over. This guy is pulling them over for no reason other than he hopes they might blow over the limit. He's a dick.Dan Murfman said:Wow you think a cop who pulls people over with outstanding warrants is an asshole.

In his defense, the city he works in is right on the highway with many hotels / motels and is pretty active in the areas of drug dealing & prostitution... so there is a "keeping the streets clean" element to this practicecromulence said:Only gonna read your first sentence. Shelterdog said:So essentially we should make different personnel decisions than the other 31 teams because there is heightened media scrutiny. I'm not buying it. If he does something worse in the future, cut him then.
DennyDoyle'sBoil said:No. If you think the possibility of having a second person on the Patriots' watch with red flags doing something violent or that injures someone would only affect the team in terms of the media's perception, I agree. If you think it would filter down and significantly impact the team's reputation and its play on the field, as I do, then it's a different matter.
Shelterdog said:Why would it affect the team on the field (other than, obviously, losing a player for a period of time)? I think it would have zero impact.
