I can't tell you how many times over the past few weeks I've imagined the Terriers had McDavid committed as well, as he (however briefly) considered. Has any team, be it NCAA or Canadian junior hockey, had the #1 and #2 picks in the draft on their roster the season before the draft?
-Halifax had MacKinnon and Drouin go 1/3 in 2013.
-Sarnia had Yakupov and Galchenyuk go 1/3 in 2012.
-MODO (Sweden) had the Sedin twins go 2/3 in 1999

That's as close as I could find going back to 1980.  So not exactly but close.

Anyone know which team(s) shoot twice at which end for the Prov and Manch games?
I would assume the higher seeds will be the home teams. In Providence that would be Miami and Denver. Home team in the Dunk shoots at the end with sections 109 to 120.

FYI for anyone looking to pick up tickets. If you enter USAHOCKEY as the promo code on Ticketmaster the tickets are $25 each + fees. One ticket covers both semi games, so you can see all three for about $70. It's cheaper than buying the tournament pack.

BU's play has been disjointed with only a few spurts of offensive threats, while Yale's been a constant thorn. It costs them as Nate Repensky gives the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead on a power play with 6:41 left in the 2nd. Deflection into the upper corner just over O'Connor's glove (left) hand.

I thought BU dominated the first period (although Yale hit the crossbar) but Yale has totally outplayed them in the 2nd so far.

Yeah, there has been a collective sphincter tightening on the BU bench. If you're a BU fan, you should be worried from the standpoint they look like they are pressing and are nervous. On the bright side, they're only down one goal and have the nation's best offense.

Superb glove save by O'Connor foils a 2-on-1, which became a 2-on-0 after the defender fell on his face skating backwards.

BU keeping the puck in the zone and battling in front of the net -- and it pays off. Tie game as Ahti Oksanen scores on the rebound at 8:21 in the 3rd, cleaning up after two teammates were foiled by Lyon on jam attempts.

EDIT - Billy Jaffe giving some well-deserved props to Greer, who's been a physical beast for the Terriers.

Wow. Evan Rodrigues from the left with a snap shot, maybe deflected by Danny O'Regan in front, but it's past Lyon for a 2-1 BU lead.

EDIT - No deflection. Rodrigues gets the goal.

Is it just me or is Eichel a no-show for this game? He disappeared in the same way during the world juniors in the elimination rounds. He'll still be the #2 pick, but I would expect more out of him in a game like this given his how much more talented he is than the rest of his college peers.

Well, he just had a breakaway but Lyon stopped him on the backhander.

I know it's not fair to expect him to score there, but as the best American player to come around since Patrick Kane, he should have done more with that opportunity.

Agreed. It's as if he expected to have the five-hole uncontested.

I have no idea how BU didn't score in that final flurry. It hit the fucking crossbar and came straight down into Lyon's path for a cover. Holy shit.

Man, UND's arena is just spectacular.  I toured it in the fall and can't imagine how crazy that place gets for a UND game.  They legitimately have better facilities than some NHL franchises.
Yeah, the Ralph is called the "Hockey Taj Mahal"

Why are they playing the Regionals at Scheels and not there?

Great play by the BU defense as Jaffe points out, but Eichel gets the assist and they move on. I wonder how much Rob O'Gara matching up with him affected his performance today. O'Gara is arguably the nation's best pure defensive player.

Too bad. Oh well, Yale should have a very strong team next year. My daughter went to BU so I'll be pulling for them now.

Everyone should sort-of pull for Amherst, as my stepbrother's son is the team's #1 goalie (David Cunningham) or at least he was until he got hurt for the year.

The Bulldogs are 4-1-1 when tied after 1. The Bantams are 4-1-1 when tied after 1. This should be a fun second period.

Gophers & UM-D Bulldogs scoreless 8 minutes in. Spectators are deathly silent. Duluth just missed a golden opportunity as two players whiff during a scrum on the doorstep.

Also, cool article from the Hartford Courant on Ryan & Brandon Cole, brothers from Alaska who opted to play hockey at Trinity.

Tony Cameranisi, a Maple Leafs draft pick, puts Minnesota-Duluth on the board first. 6:30 left in the 1st.

Jeff Cox ‏@JeffCoxSports 3m3 minutes ago
What a pass by Willie Raskob from behind the goal out to Tony Camarenesi for 1-0 UMD lead 12:49 into the 1st.

Andy Johnson ‏@AndyJohnsonB5Q 2m2 minutes ago
Skjei looked and had to see Cameranesi going to the back door. Unacceptable to let that pass get through.

Nate Wells ‏@gopherstate 2m2 minutes ago
Spoke with Brady Skjei about stopping speed and using the body. That was not it on Cameranesi's goal.

A redirection from the point puts UM-D up 2-0 with 4:33 left in the 1st. Justin Crandall gets the goal, #40 for his career.
