Unless we are planning on taking a step backwards signing Horford for 4/$113m isn't the worst option as long as you can get over the fact that you are paying Al Horford 4/$113m.
Can we just have our vassal team (the Nets) do this? They're already making some great moves for the Cs.With Portland spending on Turner I wonder what the Blazers would do if we signed Meyers Leonard to a 4/$80m offer sheet. He'd be such a good fit here.
Can you explain why you think this? What does he do that Olynyk doesn't?With Portland spending on Turner I wonder what the Blazers would do if we signed Meyers Leonard to a 4/$80m offer sheet. He'd be such a good fit here.
I think HRB was making a joke about making the Blazers spend more money poorly. Can you explain why you think this? What does he do that Olynyk doesn't?
Is there another Meyers Leonard or something? Of course you'd rather have Horford. He's a great player! Leonard is a poor man's Kelly Olynyk on the other hand. No, HRB really does love Meyers Leonard. I do too, but I'd rather have Horford.

Is that based on this:Simmons keeps teasing something, I'm letting myself get my hopes up
I am done with Ainge's bullshit - he's Madoff with a GM title.
Yeah, didn't think of it in that context, good call hahaIs that based on this:

SOURCES ARE SAYING ALL KINDS OF THINGS
I think he's poking fun at the "experts".
maybe poking fun at Chris Broussard's Durant story...almost every paragraph started with "Sources said" or "according to sources"Yeah, didn't think of it in that context, good call haha
Was it tougher than his decision to not learn how to shoot three-pointers?Full quote from his IG:
Boston, this was definitely one of the toughest decisions I've ever made. I can't say enough how appreciative I am for all the love and support. Every night I played at TD garden was like a dream come true. Thank you for showing me how a REAL sports city does things! You'll forever be in my heart!! C's up
I'm not sure if he's a JAG, but only Kevin Pelton thinks he's a top 10 free agent. CBS has him at 61, a spot above Mosgov. Zeller is definitely a JAG with a little potential, he's in the Cole Aldrich class. I'd expect Sully to get something in the 4 years 50-65M range, and Zeller around 3/20.Wait. Sully is JAG? He is a starting front line guy in the NBA, who has proven to be better than many of the guys picked ahead of him (hi, Thomas Robinson), and performed well above draft slot. He is considered a top-10 free agent this season in a class filled with big men.
Meanwhile, Zeller is a JAG who the Cs used as a lever to get a pick which turned into IT.
You don't have to like Ainge, and you don't have to think Sullinger or Zeller are right for this team. But you can't say Ainge is some kind of shitty schemer with these two as examples. They're illustrations of why you'd trust him.
I mentioned him the the NBA Off-season thread as a reclamation project that I'm interested in. His regression is troubling- he was pretty terrible this year- but it does seem related to the aforementioned shit show, and some flukish injuries. Given his pedigree, age, and glimpses of production, I don't really get the apparent lack of interest around the league. I figured maybe he has a reputation of a headcase that I hadn't heard about. Not much chatter about other Celtics targets, but there are still some guys out there that Ainge should be looking at.
I think Terrence Jones, after a down year, is a good target on a short Amir Johnson type deal. Gives him the chance to re-establish value outside of the shit show that is the Houston Rockets, and he's still a young guy with upside that hasn't entered his prime yet.
Is Less Than Zero a chance? I mean this isn't even a Jim Carrey of a chance. We already have 18 players under contract with 16 of them FULLY guaranteed. And Ray Allen is so 2009.The Boston Celtics entered the offseason in need of 3-point shooting, and aside from Stephen Curry, perhaps no other shooter in NBA history has been as proficient and efficient as former Celtic Ray Allen.
According to Allen, interviewed by the Hartford Courant, he has talked to the Celtics about a possible comeback.
The Spurs and Clippers have been mentioned, also, but Allen said he has spoken with the Celtics, with whom he won a championship in 2008, and the Bucks, his first NBA stop.
"I would love going back to those places if it worked out," Allen said, "because both teams are good, too. It doesn't necessarily have to be championship-or-bust for me to go back to the NBA.

I thought it was because he was pissed about his usage and being bumped down to fourth peg?among many other reasons, but Ray did take less money to go to the Heat b'c he was pissed DA kept trying to trade him

It was a combination of all of the above that caused Judas Shuttleswoth to leave $6M on the table to sign with the Heat.I thought it was because he was pissed about his usage and being bumped down to fourth peg?
"Think about everything [Allen] said when he left, 'I want to be more of a part of the offense.' Everything was back at Rondo. And I look at that, and say, 'That's not Rondo's fault.' That's what I wanted Rondo to do, and that's what Rondo should've done. Because that's Rondo's ability. He's the best passer in the league. He has the best feel in the league. He's not a great shooter, so he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. And that bothered Ray.
"And not starting [games] bothered Ray. I did examine it, and the conclusion I came back to was this: By doing the right things, we may have lost Ray. If I hadn't done that, I would've been a hypocrite. In the opening speech I make every year, I tell the team: 'Every decision I make is going to be what's good for the team, and it may not be what's good for the individual.'"
