That is huge. Losing the Langford brothers and Bickerstaff hurts, but hopefully they can fill those voids with the return of Hand and continued improvement from McGlockton and Aligbe along with incoming freshmen. Claudell Harris, the transfer from Charleston Southern, sounds like a scorer but who knows if that will translate to the ACC. From what I understand they still have 1 scholarship available for another transfer or freshman. If Post stays healthy I would think 20+ wins is in reach. Would be nice to get back to the Tourney, its been way too long.

This team has a very serious chance of making the tournament next season. Get one more transfer and they will be deep and talented enough. It seems BC basketball always has at least one bad injury a year, so that depth will be needed.

Makai was a real plus for this team but Demarr really seemed lost and unable to figure out his role. Bick played hard but was forced to play way too many minutes.

They’ve picked up one good transfer so far and have a pretty good class coming in (but small). If they can add on more transfer at the 4, if last years freshmen develop and Hand is healthy this team could make a real run at post season and hopefully NCAAs. Many ifs however.

My thoughts are they've done everything in their power to purge the Al Skinner era from the BC history books. I bet the O'Brien era players (Abrams, Eisley, Curley, etc.) haven't been treated this poorly.

Hard to understand why after DeFilippo left the scene; you'd have think his departure would have led to some fence mending. He's been gone since 2012; who else around there still holds such a grudge?

Am I forgetting something? Why would BC want to "purge the Al Skinner era from the BC history books?". I remember a couple of mediocre seasons and some rumblings that maybe he was getting a little lazy and not as committed as he should have been. But I don't recall anything that would have been embarrassing to the school. They had a good season the first year after he was fired, with all 5 five starters being Skinner recruits I believe, and they've been basically awful ever since. So what am I missing here?

Has it really been 14 years? wow. Time flies. But Conte still smells like stale popcorn.

My guess is largely pettiness fostered by DeFilippo. I'm also not ruling out incompetence as I imagine 4 ADs (1 bad, 2 setting themselves up for a new role, and 1 TBD) in the last decade or so hasn't helped.

I missed this when it happened a couple of weeks ago, but they signed another freshman, kid named Elijah Stong, 6' 8" 245 power forward. He had lower level interest last summer and committed to Wofford, then apparently had a really good senior year and decommitted after getting more interest. If Elijah is any good and Armani somehow makes a huge leap they can hype the Mighty Strong frontcourt in a couple of years. I could be wrong, but unfortunately I didnt see anything from Armani that leads me to believe he'll ever be an ACC level rotation guy though. Hopefully Elijah is a legit late bloomer.

Squeaked out a win on the road against Citadel. Post had a bad game, mostly because he had to sit a big chunk of the 2nd half after getting his third foul early and then his 4th on a T after throwing the ball after the call. I hope Earl gave him an earful after that stupidity. They cant afford to lose him like that.
Zachery played well and Harris made a huge 3 followed immediately by a steal-dunk late in the game to bail them out.
Like last year the lack of 3 point shooting looks to be a problem.

Vandy is not good this year, but it's always nice to see the Eagles beat a team from a real conference
Also, nice to see them not play down to their competition. They played a really solid game on both ends. Grant has put together a pretty solid roster with guys who can defend and a few streaky shooters. Post looks to have improved a lot. Cautiously optimistic that they will be in hunt for tourney spot.

Does anybody know what's going on with Jaden Hastings? He was a pretty highly regarded recruit but hasnt played at all. I'm not finding anything indicating he's hurt. Is he just a bust or is there something else going on?

BC has two commitments next year, both excellent guards who play in Massachusetts.

Luka Toews from the Newman school in Boston is 3-star point guard with great court sense and off the charts basketball IQ. He's small, only 5'11" (probably being charitable there) and he's not a knock down shooter but he has a great handle, a great passer and really knows how to run a team.

Nick Petronio from Milton Academy (formerly of Needham HS) is a 3-star, 6'3" combo guard with great instincts as well, excellent athleticism and has the rare skill of being able to create separation to get his own shot, even against bigger players. Excellent ballhandler for a combo guard, and could fill-in at PG if needed. Very good shooter, plays with swagger. Unfortunately, Nick blew out his ACL and MCL in the last game of the regular season last year. I'm told he is just about ready to play again, but I do wonder what that injury has done to his explosion. He was starting to field really high end offers (received one from Illinois) and last Summer might have moved him to a Power 5 guard.

I've seen Luka play twice and Nick play about 6 times. Pleasure to watch those guys.

They can definitely use another shooter so Petronio sounds interesting if the knee is sound.

The big question for next year will be who replaces Post

Team has legit talent, think the tourney is very much on the table. It’s so refreshing to see a BC bball team that can score.

I thought the refs ruined that game. Not saying they cost BC the game, but they called so many fouls on both sides it crippled the flow of the game.

Harris has played really well most of the year, but he killed them yesterday. 1-11 overall, 0-5 from 3. Can't beat Carolina going 3-17 from 3 as a team.

Saw that they beat Miami so I was curious. NCAAT is not happening but they got an outside shot at the NIT. Given that it's BC, that would be a decent enough accomplishment.

They have found a way to lose a lot of close games (including UNC which was close until the final 5 minutes). I agree NCAAs are now likely off the table barring a huge finish and ACCT run but NIT is a real possibility at this point.

This game gives me another chance at a mini rant, why don’t more teams use the Duke/BC/UCLA etc model and have a smaller than NBA sized arena and on campus?

Since I made that post 2 weeks ago, BC has lost 4 in a row. Looking like it'll be yet another year with no postseason.

I saw Earl Grant's College of Charleston team play; a year or so before he was considered for the BC job- I'm surprised he hasn't done better.

Team has underperformed and Grant’s questionable substitution patterns and inability to diagram successful end-of-game plays has directly led to some of the underperformance.

I think he needs to clean house with his assistants but I’m not sure that’ll fix the entirety of the coaching issues.

He may be forced to clean house as a last-ditch effort to save his own ass.

3:17 to go, Eagles up 9, but they aren’t playing smart. Forcing passes to covered guys, shooting eith 20+ seconds left on the shot clock, etc. Lucky for them, Louisville is playing as if THEY have the lead, passing and passing, and using up lots of clock when they have the ball.

Neither team deserves to win

They looked good yesterday, but of course that could be more about Miami being bad. I'm not a gambler, but I told my son before the game that BC at -2.5 looked like stealing money to me.
