Clemson was yesterdaySeems like a Nice first half. I was out and didn’t see it. What the hell is going on? Does Clemson not care?
Then they definitely don’t care.Clemson was yesterday
This is one of the other orange teams
I know Bennett doesn’t care about aesthetic pleasantriesThen they definitely don’t care.
Does Virginia care?
Given that they could easily miss the Tournament if they lose, I'd hope so?Does Virginia care?
My thoughts exactly. Very winnable game. And NC State, who isn’t that good, would have been next.Dammit
ConfirmedA few sites out there have BC potentially playing PC in the NIT.
My guess is the Big East teams will be playing with a huge chip on their shoulder (especially ones playing ACC teams like here).Confirmed

Basketball-wise, I think that BC has better shot at competing in the ACC than the Big East. Big East have really good basketball-first programs that have been consistently good...in addition to UConn, you have Nova, PC, Marquette, and Creighton, all of whom probably have better programs. Butler and Xavier consistently have pretty solid teams within any given 4-year period. Then, this season, you have St Johns with pretty decent team (probably at same level if not better than BC). And, if Cooley can turn things around, you have Georgetown that could be in the mix.I really wish BC was back in the Big East for Basketball. That's where they belong, along with Syracuse. It's a better match geographically, and with the exception of UConn they are on a similar level with the other schools competitively. Of course football prevents that from ever happening. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle for a year or two every couple of decades, but short of that I fear they are doomed to an eternity of mediocrity in the ACC.
It’s not only football. Makes also more sense for BC to be in the ACC for (women’s) lacrosse, baseball, field hockey and arguably soccer. I was talking strictly Basketball. Other sports are a different case. It’s not only football. Makes also more sense for BC to be in the ACC for (women’s) lacrosse, baseball, field hockey and arguably soccer. The best want to play against the best.
I'm an '86 grad, so this is where I'm at. There was nothing like the Big East games against Syracuse, St John's, Georgetown, 'Nova, PC, Seton Hall, UConn. That all being said, as someone who grew up with Big East basketball in the '80s and '90s, and who is also a UConn fan and BC grad, I would love to have the old Big East teams including BC back in Big East for basketball.
Right but there's less than zerochance BC can be basketball in Big East but ACC in everything else.I was talking strictly Basketball. Other sports are a different case.

They don't have the rivalries in the ACC. Even the ACC games against Syracuse don't have the same feel anymore, but maybe it's just me. Who is their biggest rival in the ACC?
No, it's all the sports. They have about 700 D1 student athletes for an undergrad enrollment of about 9500. Other than the Ivies and Stanford, there aren't many D1 schools with this high a ratio. Athletics is very important to BC. It's not just football. But it is football that is driving the bus.
Other sports definitely benefitted, but the internal meetings at BC in 2005 didn't start with "We need to move to the ACC so Baseball and Women's Lax will have better competition".Right but there's less than zerochance BC can be basketball in Big East but ACC in everything else.
It;'s not solely football driving the bus, as what your post seemed to say.
I played on the BC golf team in '85 and '86. Ed Carroll was the golf coach AND the associate athletic director. I can tell you first hand that he was WAY, WAY, WAY more interested in what was going on with the footbal team than he was with the golf team. He didn't even go to most of our matches. Obviously things have changed a lot since then, and thankfully they've had some real golf coaches since he retired, but given that sports like golf generate zero income I think its safe to say Football is still the main focus at the top end of the Athletic Department. No, it's all the sports. I agree that a move of BC (or Syracuse or Pitt) basketball to the Big East will never happen. However, I think that it would be a good idea if those 3 schools would commit to an annual matchup with one or more of the traditional Big East teams (like BC v StJ this season). They could even market it as a "Reunion Series" or something before conference play where there's a weekend series of games (Brooklyn is a good venue) between BC/SU/Pitt and UConn/Nova/PC/StJ/GTown. They can rotate teams involved every season. I think it would have some pretty good ratings/attendance, especially in the Northeast.Other sports definitely benefitted, but the internal meetings at BC in 2005 didn't start with "We need to move to the ACC so Baseball and Women's Lax will have better competition".
So to use your analogy, there are definitely other teams on the bus, but Football is definitely driving.
I totally get it, my wish is not based on reality. They can't be in the ACC and expect to be somewhere else in one major sport. Only Notre Dame football can get away with that, but don't get me started on that subject.
Just switch the ACC/Big 10 and Big East/Big 12 "challenges" to ACC/Big East and Big 10/12....that'd do it. And there'd probably be more interest in those events if they swapped.I agree that a move of BC (or Syracuse or Pitt) basketball to the Big East will never happen. Game is in Las Vegas. Actually happy for the team that this is an away game. Will be a bit of a reward for Post and the others.UNLV with the upset of Princeton leads to the next match on Sunday night, 9:30 EDT, on ESPNU
Likely the latter. BC’s NIL game is very weak. It’s a miracle they kept Post. Now I'm hearing Harris and Aligbe in the portal along with Zackery. Do these guys not want to play for Grant, or are they not getting paid enough?
Very discouraging to see we are likely starting from scratch yet again
Post is not a US citizen, right? Not eligible for NIL. Which is a rule that should be changed, but probably the reason he stayed because he couldn't capitalize elsewhere.Likely the latter. BC’s NIL game is very weak. It’s a miracle they kept Post.
As I understand it there was a workaround in place and he got paid.Post is not a US citizen, right? Not eligible for NIL. Which is a rule that should be changed, but probably the reason he stayed because he couldn't capitalize elsewhere.
If they get Power that will be a real solid portal season. Would’ve liked to have kept Glock but Hastings could be a solid replacement.Rumor of TJ Power (Duke) to BC. I’ll take any Duke player sight unseen but looks like he’s a local kid who didn’t get any run this year.
Is there any meat to this rumor beyond speculation about the local connection? I've seen BC on the list with several other schools including Kentucky, Arkansas (Calipari), and Michigan. Historically we come up short in that model. Unless the kid is hopelessly homesick I'm skeptical.Rumor of TJ Power (Duke) to BC. 247 is usually pretty good with these things…Is there any meat to this rumor beyond speculation about the local connection? That’s a great old time ECAC feeling lineupBC is in the Hall of Fame Classic next season at Mohegan Sun over Thanksgiving weekend. They play Temple in the semifinal and play either Providence or UMass in the next game.
The Cayman trip seemed to supersede this. They did play Temple in Conte, but no PC nor UMass.BC is in the Hall of Fame Classic next season at Mohegan Sun over Thanksgiving weekend. They play Temple in the semifinal and play either Providence or UMass in the next game.
Frustrating after two good wins in the tournament (including a Quad 1 win against BSU). No doubt they were likely ripe for a game like this after playing 4 games in 4 days plus travel and Thanksgiving but can’t give up 88 pts to this team. I like earl but he uses early season to mix lineups and I think it bites him often.Dartmouth? Really?
Why on earth were they playing this game after all those games, that travel, Thanksgiving....and on an empty campus?Dartmouth? Really?
