This is also suggests that the team thinks that Rozier can fill Bradley's spot, which my eyeballs agree with, based on Rozier's progress last year.
Whoever goes after him now knows Detroit isn't going to match and can adjust their offer accordingly. Unless Detroit works out a sign and trade to try to get something back.
Kentavious Caldwell Pope. He's a restricted free agent and started at SG for Detroit last year. Before this trade it was sort of accepted he was going to go back to Detroit no matter what but now there is some question that they actually match his offer sheet.
I don't think Stevens really believes in having a 2. Hayward and Crowder can handle the ball just fine and can shoot. Stevens has like 30 lineups he can put out there that work.
Bradley was the logical choice to move given that he had the highest salary of the available options and the least amount of team control remaining. It's been fun watching him develop over the years, and I still believe the Celtics beat the Heat in 2012 if he didn't wreck his shoulder (he smothered Wade every matchup that year).
Morris is as good a return as could be hoped for, a legit rotation big on a cheap contract through next season is real value.

On the surface, I am thrilled at the return. A tough PF who can shoot some and on a cheap deal. How is he defensively?

I havent watched a whole lot of him. RPM has him as above average. Loved him two years ago as a two way player, in his first year in Detroit, when he was shooting better.

Right. Rozier's physique reminds me more of Bradley, and he can probably defend quicker players better than those two.
It is pretty amazing how, beyond IT, Horford and Morris, Stevens has a bunch of quality interchangeable parts.

Assuming the other moves this offseason are around the edges, I am seeing a staring lineup of IT, Smart, Hayward, Crowder, Horford. Pretty, pretty, pretttttayyy good.
Will the impending legal issues have any sort of impact? I read on the Wikipedia that he and his brother roughed up some dude who "may have sent their mom inappropriate text."

I would not be surprised if Crowder still went. He seems somewhat redundant with Hayward, Tatum and Brown around, and I can see this being a big bowl of awkward.
I'm sure they will make it work if they keep him and Brad loves versatility and options. But Crawford still going would not surprise me.

I'm sure they're actively shopping him for that exact reason, but he's a good enough player on a good enough contract that you really don't want to move him with a gun to your head.
I'm not that worried about a professional athlete getting out of legal trouble. This stuff usually has a funny way of working itself out.
Seems as though there are still minutes for all these guys to play. Top 7 guys get ~30 minutes a game depending on matchups. The other guys (Rozier, Theiss, Zizic, Yabusele, etc.) fight for the remaining 30 minutes per game.

What are the chances of signing Dedmond to the room exception? I feel we still need a rebounder/rim protector. Who is out there for that role that we can sign to the exception?

I wouldn't be surprised if JB starts so that Smart can lead the second unit.
I love this trade so much on so many levels that I don't know where to begin.
1. We greatly improve roster balance with Jaylen and Rozier ready to take on greater roles.
2. We greatly improve the 4 position with a player whose style fits our teams philosophy.
3. We add a year of cost-controlled production.
4. We receive value in return for an impending FA.
5. We eliminate playing the season with uncertainty as to the direction regarding impending FA.
6. We protect against forcing minutes to Tatum in non-advantageous matchups much like we have done with Olynyk and Jaylen.
7. We clear the necessary cap space to sign Hayward.
8. We replace a player who is available 70% of the time with one who has missed 6 games in the past 4 seasons.

He is a rookie on a team with, at this time, much better options. I assume he needs to earn more minutes before he is penciled in for anything substantial.
His contract makes him a huge asset for a team that is going to spend a lot of dollars to keep IT and (to a lesser degree) Smart next year. Also, while summer league has been encouraging no one should count on Tatum or Brown playing significant minutes in a playoff series just yet. My bet is Stevens closes games with Horford, Crowder, Hawyard and IT with the 2/3 depending on match up.
Exactly. Tatum will play a similar role as Jaylen did last year. Spot minutes here, spot minutes there, DNP-CD's also included in the mix.
The x-factor here is whether Crowder wants to be here. There is definitely a role for him on the 2017-2018 team if he's ok with a slightly reduced role.
Yeah, my first thought was that Tommy is going to love this guy.
And I agree this trade seems like a pretty clear win for the Celtics - we clear the necessary cap space and on top of that get a player signed for a year extra than Bradley was. They are a bit "thin" at guard now but as others have pointed out I'm not sure how much difference Danny/Brad see between shooting guards and "wings."
According to a friend of Bradley, he is on a flight to Seattle and hasn't been notified of the trade yet.

Not that it's a problem from my perspective (as far as I'm concerned, depth plus competition for the young guys is a good thing). My point is only that there aren't as many minutes to go around as moops made it seem.
Who knows? The minutes Tatum and Brown play are for them to earn.

Exactly this. By clearing enough cap space to sign Hayward, Danny now removes all the leverage that other teams previously thought they had to negotiate a Crowder trade. He could still be traded but only if someone blows the C's away with an offer, or if Crowder gets to be a real problem, etc. (Another distinct possibility is just waiting to see how Crowder fits into his new role and then trading him during the season if it doesn't look like things are working out and/or as other teams get more desperate for pieces.)
I hope not. A guy who can't shoot from anywhere on the floor is not a good option to lead the second unit. He's a much better option to start, where we can hide his shooting in the corner (where he's at least average), and he can be free to wreak havoc defensively.
Celtics will run the ball through Horford a lot when IT sits, I would guess, with Rozier running some pick and roll. Rozier isn't a much better shooter than Marcus, of course, but he's at least shown the ability to get to the rim.
