The Google deal was never actually official and I guess Amazon is trying to swoop in now.

They earn money, and a lot of it, they just reinvest it constantly.

Talking about P/E ratio is nonsense, and saying they don't earn any money is nonsense too. But it is a bugger of a stock to value.

Hooray for Amazon spending even more money they do not have!
As opposed to all those cash rich brick and mortar retailers whose ass they are kicking on a daily basis?

edit: ...and what London just said.

What I'd love to see and haven't yet is the info on what AMZN is making off their cloud services offering for IAAS and SAAS.

On the consumer side, they Kindle Fire reader and Kindle Fire Phone haven't made much of an impact, despite what they may have spent on it.

They do earn a ton of money, their profit margins are thin, they're strong arming book publishers on pricing and spending a ton of money on not their core business, retail sales.

I'm not down on Amazon, I think their go to market is interesting (if not very good) and they make a lot of right decisions, but I don't buy into the "they're spending money so all is good, don't worry about profit".

It's in their "other" category of revenue.  Most analysts assume that AWS is most of the other category, but I'm not so sure.  Advertising is also in that other category.
