The constant dumpster diving for pitching needs to stop this offseason. As they did with Jansen and Martin for the back end of the pen, go out and spend real money to upgrade the starting pitching. Put Houck and Whitlock back in the pen and sign 2 guys(Snell and Yamamoto for example) to go along with Bello and Sale. I'm about done with Bloom's approach to building the major league roster. His actions this offseason will dictate whether or not he has a job for 2025.
Seems like he has been biding time but yeah it is time for aggression. They have a TON of quality prospect capital (can’t argue Bloom has excelled in that arena) it’s time to flex every muscle available this winter. There is room to trade in bulk for MLB talent and keep the tip-top guys.

I am pro-Bloom generally and this has been my opinion anyway all along but the bullpen games and everything else hitting a wall at the worst possible time has brought the flaws into clear view. We’ve had some good times in Valuetown (and Urias might be another small win here) but it’s big boy pants time.

As I watch this team I am wondering whether the Sox are leading the major leagues in two categories, both of which drive me nuts:
1. Batters swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. They clearly would have set some kind of record but they let Arroyo go. If I were managing against them I’d fine a pitcher 100 bucks for ever throwing a pitch in the strike zone when there are two strikes on the batter
2. meaningless trips to the mound by the pitching coach whenever there are a few runners on base.

Imagine spending time and money to bring your family to this game and seeing the starters pulled in the 5th inning.
Given what the Sox have done this season, I can't imagine spending what it takes to travel into Boston , park eat and buy tickets to see any of these games.

Jays broadcast points out that Schneider has broken a franchise record by getting seven hits in his first three games. Among the four or five other guys that held the previous record of six was Danny Ainge.

This imminent sweep will likely be the death blow for the 2023 season. Five games out of the WC with three teams in front to pass.

C'mon. I've explained my name multiple times. I've been here for decades. I'll be back tomorrow, but right now, I'm going to read a book.

Enjoy the rest of the game.

There are worse things than sitting in a ballpark on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon.
For sure. But if it's going to cost big bucks to watch dumb ballplayers and poor pitching, one can get the same wonderful "ballpark" experience must cheaper at a AAA or AA park.

Feels like one of those “season isn’t over…but it’s over” kind of series. An entire organizational meltdown from top to bottom.

We’re losers.

Management having confidence in this undisciplined team at the trade deadline was not the best decision. This team will not make the playoffs and we will have retained players we don't need to the rest of the way and that we could have gotten some value for.
