I have a hard time seeing us as a “contender” when every game we roll a shit pitcher out when the game is super close

Using Schreiber in the first and Jakes in the 9th feels less than ideal but I admit to not fully grasping the opener thing.

Why Jacques and not Jansen? I thought at home in a tight game it would make sense to use closer for the 9th as if they don't score in their half of 9th there is no need for him. So why bring in Derek so you end up possibly down by more than 1 for the bottom of the 9th?

Loading the bases for a guy who can't dependably throw a strike. Great.

And, now fucking Kiermaier.

Walk the bases loaded intentionally with this guy on the mound. How many will the Jays score? This was a 1 run game, but won’t be close to that by the bottom of the 9th.

Cora deserves a ton of heat for bringing Jacques in over Jansen to start the 9th. Managed the 6th-8th like the season on the line, then goes to Jacques? Thankfully got out of it with only a run, but non-sensical decision.

As I said in a previous post, though, Bloom also deserves some heat. We didn't need an impact move, we needed slight improvements on guys like Jacques and Llovera that wouldn't have cost anything significant. I don't care that it might only bet two weeks until we don't need either. We have to get there and be relevant for it to matter.
