Verdugo says a lot of things in here; whether they add up to anything, I'm not sure

Saying “all the right things”. Rather cliche to say the least. I expected more maturity from him in light of his past digressions. He’s been in The Show for awhile now. He’s level of commitment is in question through his actions or lack of actions. Saying and doing are two different things.

So Verdugo showed up two hours before the game, but this is something that the team has had an issue with in the past with him. The late arrival time today may have just been the final straw for Cora and he decided to finally bench him for it.
Cora specifically said this is not something that's happened before. Maybe he really did show up hungover and Cora didn't think he was ready to play.

I mean sure, but wouldn't it be worth more coming back to have traded him before the deadline?

They absolutely should get rid of Verdugo
Possibly, but wasn't he slumping then? Maybe he plays with a chip on his shoulder, feeling as though he has to prove himself and plays more like early season Verdugo did. Also the off season is a different animal than the deadline as every team will be looking to fill needs. The situation could also worsen and any potential return would reflect that.

I'm not going to link a tik tok but MLB posted a split screen of the fly out tonight. McGuire had his hands up in joy off the crack of the bat. Briefly turns around to make sure it's a HR. He doesn't even think about maybe it's not a HR until after he rounds third.

I don't know the hand signals of Febles, but from the crack of the bat McGuire thought it was gone.

I gotta say, it's pretty amusing how the board consensus a few weeks ago was to give Verdugo a 5 year, $100 million extension and now suddenly he's disliked more than Duran this time last year!

Well this is a high profile and lucrative business. Dugie wants to get paid like everyone else. But you have to back it up in the field and clubhouse. Duran has more than shown his desire and commitment. Dugie, not so much.

Exactly the opposite of what people were saying about Duran last year. Which I guess rates a "good for him!", but I also suspect means that results go a long way towards covering up stupidity or attitude problems.

How many hours before game time are players supposed to show up? I imagine it depends on whether the game is home or away, on or after a travel day, etc.

I don’t think this is fair. Verdugo was a near-all star a month ago and most of us were singing his praises and applauding his attitude and hustle, especially in the field. He’s slumping badly in now and it appears to have gotten into his head.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Absolutely. July was a mirage. I never bought in. Too many weaknesses in a strong division. Bad defense and brain dead base running. The injuries to Sale, Houck and Whitlock sealed their fate in July. It was only a matter of time.
It was only a matter of time until Sale, Whitlock, and Houck were injured, which sealed their fate in July, which you never bought into.

OK. We praise you with great praise.
