This loss is entirely on Cora. I won't be sad the day he leaves. He's just not a very good manager.
I look at it differently. I don't think he's particularly good, but he had one hell of a heater to stem the tide most of the way until Duval returns.
I would have gone another inning with Winckowski in game 1, then Martin is available in Game 2 if it is close and you don't have to risk blowing up Kenley's arm.

If you have a generational talent team, it's hard to make bad looking moves.
If you have a normal team, you have to make smart moves to maximize their talent.
When it comes to that, Cora's not the worst manager in the league, but he's not very good either. Jansen should not have been out there twice today.

Biggest problem was only getting one inning out of Kluber in the first game, which meant that the bullpen really got taxed for game two.
Looking at the lineup and the pitchers in game two and I'm stunned the game was even close.
Especially in a tie game. To me, that was the biggest problem with the Jansen move.
Agreed, but I also don't think it's too much of an ask to send the DH from game one to PH late in game two with the game in the balance.
Kluber only went one because they got the lead and they shifted strategy to (correctly) go for the win available now.
Now Jansen could be out on MOnday as well, and I don't think he was a better bet to keep that 9th scoreless than Pivetta there, given the context.
Whatever as long as Jansen doesn't come out injured because the offense did nothing this game, but that really threw a needless wrench in the plans for the next week.

I'm old. The thought of a DH needing a day off is baffling to me. And the thought of a DH not being available to pinch hit in a winnable game? Crazy.
