This past offseason, Chaim Bloom more or less chose between today's starting pitchers, Kluber and Wacha. Did he make the right decision? Early returns say no. Today's game won't answer the question, but it will be a very interesting data point.

Come one and all as the "not in last place" Red Sox try to extend their second-longest win streak of the year!

In terms of pitching this year, it was almost always going to be the wrong choice. Red Sox value the flexibility of the team option on Kluber compared to the unusual mutual option that basically guarantees Wacha 4 years if he wants it.

Plus I think they think Kluber is a good clubhouse guy who can help the other pitchers. Who knows? Kluber can be worse than Wacha this year & it can still turn out to be a good decision, though. I expect the Red Sox to have 6 or 7 better starting pitching options than either of them by next year.

Game 47
A 4 to 2 win. The Red Sox looked great.
The fun watch was well worth staying up late.
We saw Chris pitch well, and he finished strong
(after we’d feared he’d been left in too long.)
Enmanuel’s homer plated us three.
Enrique surprised with some stellar D.
Kenley walked two, then with the winning run
at the plate, came through, with save 4-oh-1.
We go for the sweep today at 4:10.
Let’s extend our streak to 5 games and then
hope that the Celts start a long win streak, too.
8 would be great, but, for now, 4 will do.

I guess we'll see a lot of Crawford today.
My luck the only game in the series scheduled for open eyelids time is the Kluber start.
Oh well, Geaux, Sox! Tatoo wockawockawocka, please.

Oh totally, oversimplification is kind of a theme of these threads too! :)

One detail: that was 6 days ago, not 5. Also, his 2 starts before that were very good: 1 ER and 0 ER, both 6 IP. Looks like he's found it. Relentless Sox offense to the fore!
Yeah, but those 3 games were against KC, Minnesota and Cincinnati. Minny is okay but not great, the other two are pretty bad offenses.

He's also quite a bit worse vs LH batters and Cora, knowing this, has absolutely stacked it as a result. I say fireworks!

Miami (oh, Miami!)
It's like Raffy wants to slug is way into being a better hitter. When he was flirting with .300 with a .360 OBP last year, the .521 SLG (an not below his previous marks) looked like it might come up more.

This year he's slugging .545, but his OBP is own to .300. Something of a net loss.

Bases loaded and the padres haven’t hit a ball past the mound.
