Ah, OK, not sure if that’s better or worse for Tsitsipas as it means tomorrow will be his third straight day playing. I don’t bet on sports but if I did, I’d take Murray.

#4 Ruud goes out in 5, losing the 5th set 6-0 to a low-ranked Brit.

Djokovic has to play Wawrinka next, but with Ruud out, #7 Rublev is the highest seed left in his half.

I've mentioned my soft spot for Stan in this thread, and you've got to love him with quotes like this: "Hopefully I can make a competitive match, but if you will look at recent results, I don't really stand a chance."

Tsitsipas/Murray is on now, Tsitsipas won the first set with a superb tiebreaker, taking the final 4 points to win it 7-3.

Neither player has been broken through 2 sets, just one break point combined, it’s like an Isner match but entertaining. Second set tiebreak starts now, obviously Murray needs this one.

And Murray does it with a dominant 7-2 breaker, one set apiece.

And Murray follows that with a break at love to start the 3rd.

Murray serves out the set from there, 6-4, and the match is suspended at 2 sets to 1 for Murray. That means Tsitsipas has to play for a fourth straight day tomorrow.

What a dumb tournament. Alcaraz and Sinner played at 3AM in the US Open.
I didn't check this but I think it's actually a subway thing, NYC subways run 24/7 and London tubes stop around midnight.

I think it’s mostly the residents. The grounds are smack dab in the middle of a very wealth, relatively quiet village. Which is ironic because two blocks up the hill the main drag goes LATE during Wimbledon

Amazing set of matches on centre court today:

1) Alcaraz, the #1 men's seed, currently finishing up a tight three set win.

2) the conclusion of Murray/Tsitsipas.

3) Swiatek, the #1 women's seed.

4) Djokovic/Wawrinka

That's pretty impressive for the first Friday of a Slam.

5-5 in the 4th, no breaks. Murray is serving superbly, he has held all 33 service games in the tournament so far.

These two are both playing great, this should be a round of 16 or later match.

Tsitsipas with the first mini-break after a great long rally, up 4-3 and serving now.

Lesia Tsurenko prevails in an incredible battle against Ana Bogdan, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(18)
The little bit they showed of this made it obvious why it was so long, both players hitting safe shots over and over and over and over and over.

Same thing as the first set breaker, Tsitsipas wins 4 points in a row from 3-3 and takes it 7-3. Onto a 5th set!!!

Murray not playing as well today, the match suspension last night might cost him this match.

Great win for Eubanks over Norrie just now. He really seems to be feeling it on grass coming off the title at Mallorca last week too.

Fell a bit behind, but Tsitsipas served out the match 6-4.

56 service games between them, just two total breaks.

I rant about this a few times a year, but it’s truly insane to me that the men’s side has 1, 3, 5, and 6 on one side and 2, 4, 7, and 8 on the other. There is no acceptable reason for this IMO, would drive me crazy as a player.

Djokovic steamrolling Wawrinka, trying to finish before the curfew, up 6-3, 4-0 currently.

6-3, 6-1, 2-2 now.

These two are 4-4 alltime in Slams (none since 2019), and 3 of Novak’s 4 wins took 5 sets. This one is looking a lot easier.

Wawrinka is playing a lot better in the 3rd set but still can't make a dent on Djokovic's serve, 5-5 now.

Stan gives it a good run, he was up 5-3 in the tiebreaker, but Novak wins 4 straight points to close it out ten minutes before curfew, giving himself tomorrow off.

#5 Caroline Garcia goes out, that helps Pegula if she gets to the quarters.

Alcaraz being pushed some by #25 Jarry, he is up two sets to one but down 3-0 (one break) in the 4th.

Alcaraz was down 4-1 in the 4th, but turned it on and won 7-5, so he is through.

Tsitsipas wins again and finally gets a day off tomorrow after playing five straight days.

The mucky muck
Woof. Davidovich Fokina really blew the 5th set tiebreak against Rune - even tried to quick serve him while tied 8-8 and heading back to Rune's serve.

16 year old Andreeva takes out her second straight seed, 6-2, 7-5 over #22 Potapova after being down 4-2 in the 2nd. She had to come through qualifying here, that will hopefully be the last time she has to do that, ranking up to #64 now.

Dimitrov finishes off his two day demolition of Tiafoe, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. He is 32 now, no longer the young up and coming #1 threat he once was, but playing incredibly.

Bublik and Rublev going to a 5th set. Bublik won the 3rd and 4th set in a tiebreaker. Rublev has not had his serve broken today. Bublik with a 123 MPH second serve at 5-5 in the 4th set tiebreaker.

Bencic wins the first set in a tiebreaker over Swiatek. I would have thought Bencic was an early upset candidate considering she only played 1 match from April 10th to July 2nd and her right arm has a lot of tape on it.

Swiatek saved two match points at 15-40 5-6. Wins the tiebreaker easily 7-2. Bencic lost all 5 points on her serve.

Svitolina and Azarenka are playing an excellent match. Best I have seen on the women’s side this tournament. One set apiece.

Svitolina has won 9 of 11 games since going down 2-0 in the second, up 3-0 (one break) in the 3rd now.

A rare example of the 10 point tiebreak making a difference, Azarenka was up 7-4 but lost 11-9, great win for Svitolina.
