Assuming the reports are accurate, he definitely gets cool guy points with me for restructuring his contract to free up more money for other players.

He mostly did. One wrinkle I heard was that the restructure gives him more guaranteed but most assume he earns more than that guarantee. I’m not a cap/contract guy, I’m just repeating something I heard on the Around the NFL podcast.

I thought episode 1 was a little flat. Or just too much to live up to after how entertaining Campbell and the lions were in last years version. Saleh seems kind of boilerplate, and Rodgers, despite how polarizing he is, never come across as particularly interesting or insightful to me. Unless you get an outlier like last year, there’s been enough of these now that they all have a little bit of a rinse repeat element. I’ll definitely keep watching, and hope it picks up though.

It'll be interesting to see if Hard Knocks now pivots to three longshot rookies and their struggle to make the team (as is usually the case), or continues to hang with Rodgers, Gardner and G. Wilson. Gardner and Wilson definitely showed up to play in episode 1.

Apparently they won't be showing cuts in the season.

This episode was fantastic. It fell flat like Tom Brady had an ok 2007 season.

Fwiw my kids and their friends (New York City kids aged 11-14) mock him all the time because, as one daughter patiently explained to me “he looks like a dad but he tries to dress like he’s young and it’s just too try hard.” They didn’t buy my explanation that he’s trying to create a certain marketable public image

(I am safe from the scorn because apparently I look and dress like a dad.)

Fucking hell.

That's enough. Absolutely no V&N stuff. Any issues with that, take it up in Backwash. Oh, and attach Nip on any post. He loves this stuff.

Jets Football only.

Thanks.

No idea if this is true (i.e. they wont be showing cuts) but on the Around the NFL podcast they mentioned that current Jets G.M. Joe Douglas was "The Turk" for the Ravens on the first season of Hard Knocks and he hated the fact that it was always him being shown as the guy who knocked on someone's door and told them to go see coach and bring your playbook.

^Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook is planning to sign a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million with the New York Jets, per source.^

That’s cool and all but makes me think Hall might not be ready for a while as the Jets have 4 pretty good guys already counting him.

Schefter says Hall is coming off the PUP list today. I cannot believe how far ACL surgery has come - he was hurt toward the end of October.

13 years ago, Wes Welker tore his ACL and MCL in week 17, and was back by week 1 of the following season. He was participating in full practices just 7 months after his injury.

I'm not sure what's more upsetting - that I'd forgotten about that or that it was THIRTEEN years ago.

Everyone talks about Peterson and his freakish recovery, but that Welker timeline is absurd.

Thing is Peterson had one of the greatest RB seasons of all time immeditaely following his recovery from that injury, while Welker had his worst year as a Patriot in 2010. He was still good, but it affected his play.

Apparently there have been 6 fights in the Jets/Bucs practice today.

Hard Knocks production crew must be thrilled
Yeah, you can practically write Schrieber’s talk track:

‘Hot weather breeds hot tempers….and that was certainly the case today. Luckily for the Jets, they can call on the veteran cool of Aaron Rodgers to lower the temperature in the huddle.’

/cue 5 minute segment on Rodgers’ meditation practices

I really lost interest in this season by episode 3, which premiered last night. Saleh in particular just isn’t a Dan Campbell or Rex Ryan as a personality, the preseason game clips have been mindnumbing, and they kinda dumped the bucket on Rodgers and Sauce Gardner in the first episode.

Got his ass. There isn’t a dude that’s played football at any level in the last 15 years that doesn’t know who Aaron Rodgers is.

Its 100% believable that he doesn’t even know who Jihad Ward is.
"Ain't you a gameshow host?" would have been a better comeback.

It's especially devastating because Ward isn't some undrafted rookie or young player - he was a 2nd round pick in 2016, he's played in 85 games over 7 years, for 5 different teams. And it's completely believable that Rodgers doesn't know who he is.

Yup, such a hardo move. "Don't poke the bear", it's preseason and you were lightly tapped on the chest, my guy, settle down.
Are you new to Aaron Rodgers? His entire personality is trying too hard and taking exception to every single slight.

Carson Wentz. I mean there is literally no other lottery ticket upside alternative that is readily available in a year you'll already pushed all your chips in. Especially after getting us fans all overly hyped up for potential playoff berth season (that sure as hell won't happen with Wilson at the helm).

Kind of fitting in way though, as it just doesn't really get any more Jets then seeing this happening. I guess at least now we all get to spare ourselves of seeing the reality check of an already clearly declining 40yo QB being average at best when it turns you can't and shouldn't see Tom Brady in any other 40 year old+ QB.

Joe D deserves every bit of this firing that's coming at the end of the year.

One saving grace is that conditional first round pick will no longer convert for Green Bay, it will remain a second.
