And apparently Spieth blew one off the map on 14, not that CBS would show it. It really is a roller coaster with him.
But seriously, I'm loving this tournament. Bryson going long at 17 and not having the grandstands to bail him out and give him a drop (and thereby an easier shot) could be the defining early moment of golf-without-fans.
Well Im is still going to top 10 this week...Better than Im?
They are both absolute studs.
They may have said this on the broadcast already (I've been watching on and off without sound), but what is the tiebreaker for this tourney?
I have to admit...I liked that it was Nantz interviewing Bryson and Rose after their rounds instead of sending it down to a separate reporter whose only reason for being on site is to conduct those interviews. Felt much more organic to the broadcast.
We might be setting a new record today for the number of golfers who will be kicking themselves at the end of a PGA Tour event. Like, 9 or 10 guys will think they could and very possibly should have at least made it into the playoff.
Watching Morikawa and Berger using the first tee as their own private driving range is pretty hilarious.
I don't know what the normal playoff hole at Colonial is, but starting with 17 - because its tee is right next to the clubhouse, and because you don't need to cater to crowds already behind #18 green - is really smart.
Good for Berger. Was kind of in the JT/Spieth tier as a rookie when he came on tour and then got sidetracked by injury.
Yeah, people forget how good he was, including being a part of the 2017 President's Cup team. That wrist injury almost ended his career, and now he's clearly back.
So, upon reflection: how much of a net negative was not having fans at Colonial this week? Or for that matter, was it neutral or even a net positive to not have them there? I loved it, to be honest; at worst it was a push for me, as any lack of atmosphere was compensated by the novelty factor, and by the purity of the competition. Golf really is the perfect sport to lead the charge back to normalcy after the lockdown, in my opinion...and I'm actually a little emotional here at CP Manor to have had such an awesome sporting event back in my life this weekend.
